Position Summary
Pioneer Technical Services is currently looking for an entry level Civil/Environmental Engineer to work out of our Butte, MT office. We are looking for a dedicated and hard-working engineer to join our team that will assist our staff on remediation projects within the Butte and surrounding areas. Pioneer is a 100% employee-owned ESOP that was founded on the belief that the employees should manage their own future.
The position responsibilities encompass all aspects of environmental remediation, from remedial investigation, remedial design, construction oversight and operation and maintenance at remediation sites. Our team uses environmental data collected at each site to design prescriptive remedial actions. Our projects typically revolve around legacy mine site remediation in the Pacific Northwest and Rocky Mountain regions. This employee will be required to interact with project engineers and project managers for remediation projects, including remedial design and design reports, construction drawings, and technical specification development, construction oversight, surveying, environmental sampling and annual reporting requirements. Familiarity with ecological restoration techniques is preferred. The Staff Engineer works under the direct supervision of the Project Engineer or Project Managers assigned to individual projects and to the engineer's Team Leader. The Staff Engineer is an entry level position requiring little or no experience.

Essential Functions
- PROJECT AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
- Keep personal data updated to reflect current experience, training, registration and professional areas of expertise.
- Represent Pioneer Technical Services to clients and prospective clients in a professional manner at all times.
- Assist Project Engineer with scheduling of project tasks.
- Work closely with clients to develop client relationships.
- PROJECT EXECUTION - DESIGN AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT
- Executes specific tasks of the project assigned by the Project Engineer.
- Typical projects involve environmental remediation and/or civil project design tasks including stormwater, surface water, and mine waste excavation design.
- Keeps the Project Engineer fully informed of what is transpiring with his/her part of the project.
- Prepare task progress reports to keep the Project Engineer informed of the completion schedule and budget for each task.
- Attend project control sessions, as required.
- Participate in the firm's QA and QC program, performing project tasks in accordance with company policies and standards.
- PROJECT EXECUTION - FIELD WORK
- Under the supervision of the Project Engineer, the Staff Engineer is responsible for conducting field sampling tasks in accordance with project quality documents, oversight of construction activities to ensure design specifications are adhered to and deviations from approved practices are communicated to the Project Engineer.
- Project administration duties include maintaining task files documenting the history of involvement with the project.
- Monitor safety on the portion of the project assigned.
- FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT
- Responsible for completion of the task assigned within budget and on schedule.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or related field REQUIRED.
Experience: None
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills required. Knowledge working with Office 365 and AutoCad Civil 3D are preferred.
Certifications and Licenses: Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred but not required.
