Geotechnical Project Manager

Are you looking for a challenging opportunity to utilize your geotechnical engineering and project management skills to help lead and grow an office, bring in new work and play a vital role in the success of our projects? S&ME is seeking a dynamic and passionate Geotechnical Project Manager to join our team in Memphis, Tennessee.

As part of our expansion with opening our doors in Memphis in Spring 2022, we are seeking a Geotechnical Project Manager to manage all geotechnical projects throughout the Memphis and surrounding region cultivating client relationships while providing team leadership and the highest standards of quality, safety, and execution.

What You Will Do:

As a Geotechnical Project Manager, you'll lead geotechnical projects with minimal guidance and be involved in a variety of high-profile projects that make an impact, from subsurface explorations to construction support, shaping the engineering landscape.

Beyond your technical expertise, you will coordinate field activities and mentor junior staff, engage with clients, and drive business development for S&ME's success. Other duties include:

Management of geotechnical engineering services which typically include geotechnical explorations involving soil, rock, and groundwater conditions.
Geotechnical design services which may include subsurface explorations, slope stability evaluation, retaining wall design, pile load testing, forensic evaluations, etc.
Development and coordination of field explorations, logging of soil and rock samples, performing engineering calculations, preparation of proposals and reports, project management, invoicing and budget tracking, client and business development, and support co-workers in similar tasks.
Demonstration of positive leadership and management with a good understanding of client development, business development, business metrics, safety policies/procedures, human resources policies/procedures, risk management concepts, and other applicable project management procedures.
Proactively supporting safety on all projects.

Who You Are:

You have a Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering, or related field
You have a minimum of 1 year of proven work experience as a project manager
You are a licensed Professional Engineer (PE)

This is a full-time position with competitive pay based on experience.
