DSG is seeking a
3rd shift Warehouse Assistant Manager in our
Plymouth, MN location. In this
full time, salaried position, work typically ranges between the hours of
9:30pm and 6:30am, Sunday Through Thursday (works into Friday morning), but may vary on occasion according to business needs. As a Warehouse Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for
supporting the overall operations of the warehouse, including overseeing the day-to-day activities of warehouse staff and drivers while ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of warehouse processes. This role involves managing a team (up to 8 employees), ensuring that operations meet quality standards, safety regulations, and company objectives. The 3rd shift Assistant Warehouse Manager will also collaborate with the Warehouse Manager and/or Branch Manager to implement improvements, enhance productivity, and maintain high operational standards.

A Typical Day in the Life of a 3rd Shift Warehouse Assistant Manager at DSG:
- Overnight warehouse operations — Oversees all overnight workflow to ensure efficiency and timely completion of tasks, including transfers, cross‑docking, order fulfillment, and unloading/loading trucks for early morning deliveries.
- Truck routing — Plans and routes trucks for early morning Metro deliveries.
- Shift communication — Reports overnight issues to the next shift lead and any other relevant stakeholders.
- Team supervision — Directly supervises up to 8 warehouse employees, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Performance management — Conducts performance reviews and administers disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Training & development — Provides coaching, training, and ongoing support to improve employee performance and professional growth.
- Employee engagement — Understands team members’ career goals and facilitates opportunities for upskilling and advancement.
- Information flow — Ensures relevant information is communicated clearly and promptly to direct reports.
- Safety enforcement — Enforces safety protocols, promotes safety awareness, and ensures compliance with all regulations.
- Issue resolution — Troubleshoots operational challenges and acts as the primary contact for overnight operations issues.
- Process improvement — Recommends measures to improve efficiency, working conditions, and overall warehouse performance.
- Equipment oversight — Ensures tools and equipment are available and functioning; reports issues to the Branch/Warehouse Manager.
- Customer service — Provides courteous, prompt, and efficient service to customers.
- Safety leadership — Leads by example in safety-conscious behavior and ensures all incidents are documented and reported.
- Policy compliance — Ensures adherence to all company procedures and policies.
- Additional duties — Performs other duties as assigned.
A Successful 3rd Shift Warehouse Assistant Manager Typically Has:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in warehouse operations, and a strong background in distribution (within the Twin Cities Metro preferred).
- Experience in a supervisory/leadership role.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team of employees.
- A strong understanding of supply chain demands as they relate to warehousing.
- Safety training on material handling and forklift driving.
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
- Physical ability to lift up to 60 lbs. on a regular basis, and up to 100 lbs. on an occasional basis.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
