Production Operator – Dairy & Beverage Processing
Temporary Summer Position | Union‑Represented Role
Job Summary
At Wawa, our production teams play a vital role in delivering the fresh, high‑quality beverages our customers count on every day. As a Temporary Summer Dairy & Beverage Production Operator, you will support our dairy and beverage manufacturing operations by operating and maintaining high‑speed processing and packaging equipment used to produce milk, juices, and other beverage products—while upholding Wawa’s uncompromising standards for safety, quality, and cleanliness.
This is a hands‑on, full‑time summer manufacturing role in a union‑represented environment, ideal for individuals seeking seasonal employment in a fast‑paced, food‑grade facility. Successful candidates take pride in precision, teamwork, and consistent performance while supporting peak summer production demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor filling, bottle handling, and labeling equipment
- Pasteurize and standardize dairy and beverage products according to established procedures
- Receive and handle raw ingredients, bulk products, cleaning chemicals, and packaging materials
- Perform Clean‑In‑Place (CIP) sanitation of tanks, lines, and equipment as required
- Load out bulk milk and cream safely and efficiently
- Accurately complete required documentation, including production output, weights, downtime, and chemical concentrations
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with GMPs, food safety regulations, and union work practices
- Work independently while collaborating with production, quality, and maintenance teams
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement
Production Performance Expectations (Once Trained)
Depending on assigned filler lines, operators are expected to meet standard production output levels, including:
- 9,000+ 8‑oz plastic units per hour
- 3,000+ gallons per hour
- 6,500+ half‑gallons per hour
- 10,000+ pints per hour
- 13,000+ 8‑oz or 4‑oz cartons per hour
- 5,600+ quarts per hour
- 50+ dispensers per hour
Training is provided, and these production standards reflect normal performance expectations for the role.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Dairy GMPs preferred
- Prior experience with high‑speed packaging or labeling equipment preferred
- Previous experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment strongly preferred
- Ability to work independently while meeting Wawa safety, quality, productivity, and union standards
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in completing production documentation
- Reliable attendance and commitment throughout the summer assignment
Schedule & Work Environment
- Temporary summer position
- Union‑represented role; employment terms and conditions are governed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement
- Must be available to work all shifts within a 20–24 hour operating schedule
- Ability to work up to a consecutive 7‑day work week, including weekends and holidays, as needed to support production
- Manufacturing environment requiring adherence to food safety, sanitation, PPE, and safety protocols
