Summary: Responsible for preparing and/or coordinating the preparation of full estimates on projects as required by client’s documents; provides complete conceptual and total bid price.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- 40% Project Manager
- 25% Estimator
- 20% Preliminary work with architects, engineers, general contractors, and owners
- 15% CAD drawings and layouts
- Reviews and evaluates Requests for Estimates
- Prepares weekly bid calendar and ensures timely completion of estimates
- Reviews estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy
- Creates job folders
- Reviews construction documents and understands scope of work to bid
- Executes take-offs of construction documents
- Inputs take-offs into computer spreadsheet
- Obtains pricing for materials
- Obtains bids from subcontractors
- Prepares cost analysis in computer by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items
- Where predetermined standard(s) are not available, makes an estimate
- Informs immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or computer database
- Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc
- Reviews and evaluates Requests for Estimates
- Prepares weekly bid calendar and ensures timely completion of estimates
- Continues to follow-up on estimates and track progress of bids
- Reviews estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy
- Schedules meetings with Architects and Contractors to continue to generate leads
Qualifications
High school diploma or one to three years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable under Company’s insurance. The individual must be a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and oral communication skills as well as proven customer service. Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Must be able to work under minimal supervision, manage multiple tasks and interact with others in a professional manner. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
Education Requirements
Position prefers a High School Diploma with a basic understanding of the office setting operations.
