Position Overview: The Motz Group’s Construction Superintendent is responsible for the construction of natural grass base construction, drainage layers, irrigation components, soil layers, and other field related items. The key activities may vary depending on the project specification, but typical activities include:
Key Activities:
- Responsible for overseeing and coordinating site construction-related tasks to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects.
- Possess a broad understanding of equipment repair techniques and practices, with the ability to troubleshoot and minimize any potential lost time.
- Manage project budgets by meticulously reviewing estimates, progress reports, and cost tracking reports, and ensuring adherence to allocated funds.
- Supervise staff working on natural grass construction and any subcontractors involved in the project, providing guidance and direction to ensure high-quality workmanship.
- Facilitate daily huddles and toolbox talks with the team to ensure everyone is informed of necessary JHA (Job Hazardous Analysis) and up to date on the project's progress.
- Collaborate closely with project managers and contractors to identify and address any issues that arise during construction, such as work procedures, complaints, or construction problems.
- Analyze all job specifications and plans to determine the most effective and efficient construction methods.
- Maintain accurate records of all documentation, including accurate as-built drawings, to facilitate the closeout process.
Skills Required:
- Travel – Willingness and ability to travel to project locations and stay onsite for extended periods of time to ensure timely completion of assignments. 80% overnight travel
- Coordination — Possess the ability to coordinate and adjust actions in relation to the actions of others, demonstrating effective collaboration and communication skills to ensure the successful completion of projects.
- Active Listening — Demonstrate exceptional active listening skills by giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking the time to understand the points being made, asking relevant questions, and refraining from interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Monitoring — Ability to closely monitor and assess the performance of oneself, other individuals, or organizations, leveraging this information to make improvements and take corrective action to ensure the highest level of efficiency and productivity.
- Speaking — Demonstrate exceptional communication skills by effectively conveying information to others, utilizing a range of verbal and nonverbal techniques to ensure clear and concise communication.
Professional Qualifications:
- Building and Construction - Possess a comprehensive knowledge of building and construction, including the materials, methods, and tools involved in construction, demonstrating a solid foundation in the principles and practices of the construction industry.
- A bachelor’s degree and/or real-world construction experience are required.
