The Plant Operations Manager has full operational responsibility and accountability for the oversight and management of the entire day-to-day machine shop operations and related support areas. Working with the VP of Operations as well as other Parent Company Leadership. The Plant Manager will set strategic goals for the teams, crafting initiatives and policies to enhance operational efficiency, setting budgets, incorporating Lean processes, and leveraging new technologies. The Plant Operations Manager will also train, mentor, and supervise employees to perform their tasks effectively.
Requirements
- Review and maintain purchase orders to ensure shipment schedule is being met by monitoring the performance of the manufacturing team.
- Oversee the Production Planner and the planning and establishment of work schedules, assignments, and production processes to meet the Customer schedule.
- Oversee Inventory Planning and Forecasting – Determine the optimal quantity of inventory to be stocked based on factors such as historical sales data, market trends, and customer demand forecasting.
- Procurement and Supplier Management – Manage relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely procurement of inventory items, negotiating favorable terms, and pricing, and maintaining a reliable supply chain to meet demand.
- Working with the Senior Leadership team, solicit new Customers.
- Manage the customer relationship from planning, sourcing, making, and delivering products to the Customer’s specification.
- Meet with current and new Customers to review performance metrics.
- Working with the Manager, Quality & Inventory and Parent Company’s QA Manager, manage monitoring and enforcing quality control along with tracking programs to meet quality objectives, ensure that parts are being made according to the correct procedure, including ISO.
- Work with the identified teams to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments and to create solutions to complex problems.
- Supervise, coach, mentor, and motivate employees.
- Direct management and leadership of the company employees.
- Coordinate and/or conduct employee training in equipment operations and work procedures to ensure that all work is performed correctly and efficiently.
- Review the performance and evaluation of employees.
What You Bring:
- Associate degree or bachelor’s degree (in Engineering, Business, or related field) with 5 years of Operation Management experience- Preferred
- Understanding of business operations and functions, such as HR, Finance, Sales, and Marketing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Excellent leadership and organizational abilities with previous experience in a leadership role within a machining/manufacturing/fabrication environment is required.
- Ability to motivate, develop, coach, and retain efficient production and support teams a must.
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office Suite – Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook)
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service, both internally and externally.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices, as well as able to work with teams.
- Ability to read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs
- Ability to interpret specifications, schematics, job orders, and company policies and procedures for employees
- Ability to inspect materials, products, and/or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions
- Mechanically inclined individual with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, time management and documentation skills
- Ability to multi-task and must be organized
Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with Purchasing of raw materials and Industrial Engineering functions as well as plant layout efficiencies.
- Understanding of CNC and Swiss Screw equipment and programming. Previous experience in Machining and Maintenance operations.
