ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Assist machinists with correcting various problems with programs and processes
Create and maintain specific work instructions to support manufacturing operations
Update measurement programs and quality documents
Work with machinists to prove out new parts and/or prototypes
Support inspection and shop floor personnel and company processes
Act as a liaison to customers in new part development and drawing interpretation
Create and maintain manufacturing and inspection work instructions
Support machine tool programmers with interpretation of GD&T specifications
Assist with internal auditing
Maintain and support CMM / SmartScope programs, design and maintain CMM / SmartScope fixturing
Other duties as assigned

This position reports directly to the Quality Leader

Basic understanding of CMM programming, GD&T tolerancing, machining and processes that go along with manufacturing
Basic knowledge of Quality Management System tools, continuous improvement methods, quality control and statistical techniques
Must have highly accurate computer data entry skills and basic computer skills
Must have solid problem-solving skills and interpersonal skills
Must have effective written and verbal communication skills with positive attitude and professional image and phone demeanor
Must be very detail oriented
Must have effective planning and organizational skills to meet deadlines with frequent interruptions
CMM programming software and Solidworks, or equivalent, preferred

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE OR LICENSES

High School diploma or equivalent, required
Must have valid Driver’s License
3+ years of experience in a machine shop or similar manufacturing environment, required
Experience using traditional inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators), surface plate inspection methods (using gage blocks, indicators, sine bars) and CMM experience, required

The work is typically performed while intermittently standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping, reaching above shoulders, talking and hearing.
At times, the employee must lift heavy objects and use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

The work is performed in our plant facilities or on the road with visits to customers or suppliers. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease and machinery with moving parts. The noise level is occasionally loud.
