Entry Level Water Engineer in Training – Grand Forks, ND

As an entry-level engineer, you'll work alongside experienced professionals on meaningful projects from planning and design through construction. You'll gain hands-on experience, receive mentorship from industry experts, and develop the technical and professional skills needed to become a successful engineer.

We are hiring across multiple practice areas, including:

Water – drinking treatment and distribution
Wastewater – treatment, modeling, and reuse
Water Resources – surface water, stormwater management, and flood risk mitigation
Rural Water – water supply, system development/regionalization

During the application process, you'll have the opportunity to indicate the practice area(s) that interests you most.

Responsibilities

Assist project managers with the development, and preparation of plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates
Assist project managers in the design and solution of client projects
Perform construction observation and administration on water related projects
Assist in the preparation of technical reports, memorandums, and presentations
Work with Contractors to ensure the project document requirements, process, schedule, and related contractual obligations are understood by Contractors performing work for Owner

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical Engineering or related field
Fundamentals in Engineering certified or ability to obtain
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to travel as required
All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations

Physical Requirements -

Ability to walk up to 3 miles on uneven terrain
Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight
May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds
Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify causes of errors or defects
May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including flame-resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear
May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload
May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town
