Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA) Instructor (Part-Time)

Location: Colorado Springs Campus | On-Site

Type: Part-Time

Schedule: Weekend Class (3-Weekend Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; 16 hours/weekend for the first 2 weekends, 8 hours on the 3rd Saturday)

Compensation: $22.88 – $27.46 per hour

Position Summary

Pass on your clinical expertise and train practicing dental assistants in advanced expanded functions! Pima Medical Institute is seeking a certified Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA) Instructor to teach weekend continuing education/certification modules at our Colorado Springs campus.

This position is structured on a flexible, as-needed (PRN) weekend schedule spanning three weekends (5 days total / 40 course hours). It offers an outstanding opportunity for working dental professionals to earn extra income while preparing local dental assistants to expand their clinical capabilities and meet regional industry demand.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Delivery & Practical Training:

Weekend Course Execution: Deliver comprehensive EDDA lectures, hands-on lab training, and practical skill demonstrations over a structured 5-day weekend schedule (40 hours total per cohort).
Skill Masteries: Guide students through advanced expanded function techniques, strictly enforcing safety, sterilization, and clinical standards.
Evaluation & Feedback: Grade course assignments, evaluate practical competency exams, and provide constructive feedback within required institutional timelines.

Classroom Administration & Student Support:

Student Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate daily attendance logs and document student academic or skill progress for each weekend module.
Student Guidance: Address student questions, discuss academic or skill performance, and report any behavioral or attendance issues to campus leadership.
Departmental Support: Ensure lab equipment and materials are properly prepared prior to weekend sessions.

Minimum Requirements

Schedule Availability: Ability to work weekend shifts (Saturdays and Sundays, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) for assigned 3-weekend course cycles.
Licensure & Credentials:
- Active Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA) certification/licensure.
- Current CPR Certification.
Field Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years of practical experience in the dental field.
Education: Graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant program recognized by USDE or CHEA (or equivalent documented industry experience/training).
Technical Skills: Basic computer proficiency and strong communication skills to lead an engaging weekend adult learning environment.
