The Dayton division has recently been named as one of only five prime awardees for the 10-year, $4.7 billion NOVASTAR contract supporting the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC), WPAFB, Ohio.
The EO/IR Modeling and Simulation Engineer/Scientist will conduct in-depth electro-optical (EO) and infrared (IR) modeling and simulation of targets of interest to support Department of Defense customers. The selected candidate will perform signature production in accordance with established processes and techniques to analyze data, generate predicted signatures, document and disseminate results at the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) at WPAFB, Ohio. Using signature modeling techniques and tools the candidate will predict target system observables for identification, characterizations and analysis. Candidate will conduct research and development and verify novel and unique signature production and analysis algorithms and techniques to meet customer requirements. Candidates must be able to work independently and as part of a technical team and have effective oral and written communication skills. Successful candidates will have strong problem solving and critical thinking skills. Desire an active TS/SCI clearance.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Generate EO/IR signatures in accordance with well-established production procedures.
- Develop signature production requirements and methods to achieve customer goals.
- Create signature scenarios of geometric models with materials.
- Analyze scenarios including scenario dependent reflection and emission characteristics.
- Conduct post processing and data reduction.
- Write analysis reports and develop briefings.
- Produce reports on signature production results.
- Work independently and in a team environment.
Required Qualifications
- At a minimum, bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or mathematics.
- 0 - 5 years of relevant experience.
- Pursuant to the various government contractual requirements, all applicants must be U.S. Citizens.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD TS/SCI clearance.
Desired Qualification
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- Knowledge of Python, Matlab, or C++.
- Understanding of EO/IR optics and detector performance evaluation, radiometry, and optical material characterization.
- Knowledge of NEFDS.
- Knowledge of EO/IR scattering and self-emission phenomenologies.
- Knowledge or use of atmospheric codes: MODTRAN, FLAASH, or LEEDER.
- Knowledge or use of space system orbital mechanics, space mission modeling/visualization tools: eSMT, STK, SVST, SINDA/G, Thermica, or GMAT.
- Knowledge or use of aircraft tools: ITASE, AFSIM, or NGTS.
- Knowledge or use of missile plume modeling tools: JANNAF suite (PERCORP, SPR-III, SPP, SPURC, SOCRATES-P, and VIPER), RPFM, PLUS, Tecplot, or OSC/OPTISIG for missile hardbodies.
- Knowledge or use of COAST/FIST, SPIRITS, DIRSIG, or MuSES.
- Knowledge of signal processing techniques.
