We are seeking a hands-on Corporate Controller to become an integral part of our team, working directly with department heads and executives. The Corporate Controller is responsible to oversee the accounting functions and risk management of all business units, manage the accounting organization, establish manufacturing cost accounting methodology, support M&A activities and integration, close the books and prepare financial statements on a timely basis, communicate with and provide information to independent auditors, insurance brokers, and the bank. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer. Position is a hybrid role.
Requirements
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop a high-performance accounting team through effective leadership and provision of guidance and development opportunities for each team member
- Lead improvement in organization, systems, and processes
- Drive timely monthly accounting close. Prepare business unit financial statements. Assist in preparing consolidated financial statements
- Support independent accountants in preparation and audit of annual consolidated financial statements and footnotes
- Provide information and analysis to management, bankers, tax preparers, auditors, and insurance brokers
- Assist as a key participant in implementing, maintaining, and upgrading ERP and accounting systems
- Provide due diligence support for M&A activity and lead financial integration of acquired operations
- Ensure compliance with income tax, sales tax, and other regulations and accounting requirements
- Perform additional duties as needed or requested by the senior executive team
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Substantial experience as a Controller in a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Proven effectiveness leading and managing a team
- Strong MS Office skills and experience working with accounting and ERP systems
- Experience working with independent auditors, bankers, and insurance brokers
- Strong interpersonal skills, team player, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to sit or stand in a stationary position up to 100% of the time
- Must be able to walk in an office and production environment up to 100% of the time
- Must be able to exchange accurate and concise information verbally in person and on the phone
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
