Overview

The Railroad Business Unit is looking for Railroad Bridge Design Engineers with interest and experience in Railroad Bridge Design.

Railroad Bridge Unit:

Focuses on structural design, evaluation and rehabilitation of new and existing railroad bridges of all types, including fixed, movable, girder, truss and arch structures. This unit focuses on the unique challenges of railroad structures, including historic bridges and providing emergency services. Staff within this unit are primarily made up of Structural Engineers.

As a Structural Bridge Design Engineer with Modjeski and Masters, you will work on a variety of challenging and rewarding bridge engineering projects for a myriad of transportation clients. Position and Location Availability -

Mid-Level (4-10 years related Bridge Design Experience)
- Mechanicsburg, PA
- New Orleans, LA
- Washington DC
Senior Level (10 + years related Bridge Design Experience)
- Washington DC

Ideal Candidates will have:

At minimum a BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited College or University
For Mid-Level Positions
- Ideal Candidates will be within 6 months of obtaining a valid PE license
For Senior Level positions
- Ideal candidates will have a valid Professional Engineering License (PE)

General Responsibilities:

Perform structural design and detailing of railroad bridge components as one of the primary project engineers with limited guidance from Project Managers and Senior Structural Engineers.
Assist Project Managers in identifying project issues and in developing solutions.
Supervise the work of Junior Engineers on projects.
Perform tasks on multiple, concurrent projects.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities, including field and construction service assignments as needed.
Knowledge of railroad bridge analysis, design and detailing methods based on the AREMA Manual.
Familiarity with CADD software, Microsoft Office Software, and structural analysis software.
Possesses, or have the ability to develop effective leadership and communication skills necessary to lead teams of engineers and technicians.
Problem-solving skills necessary to resolve both design and detailing issues.
Ability to identify appropriate steps in the bridge design and detailing process, and the initiative to complete the necessary tasks.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, project managers, supervisor, and other team members.
Ability to effectively receive and convey ideas and information orally and in writing with co-workers, project managers, supervisor, and other team members.
Senior Engineer Positions ONLY
- will take on leadership roles and will be responsible for the delivery of projects, will assist Projects Managers in identifying issues and developing solutions. Senior Engineers will also serve as technical leads on complex projects.
