What we are looking for
The responsibility of the corporate counsel will be to lead corporate strategic and tactical legal initiatives. The corporate counsel will provide senior management with effective advice on company strategies and their implementation, manage the legal function, and obtain and oversee the work of outside counsel. The corporate counsel will be directly involved in complex business transactions in negotiating critical contracts. The ideal location is for you to be hybrid in our Long Beach Headquarters.
How you can make an impact
- Participate in the definition and development of corporate policies, procedures and programs and provide continuing counsel and guidance on legal matters and on legal implications of all matters.
- Serve as key lawyer/legal advisor on major business transactions, including complex design-build projects, divestitures and joint ventures.
- Judge the merits of major court cases filed against or on behalf of the company, work with the appropriate executive(s) to define a strategic defense and approve settlements of disputes where warranted.
- Assume ultimate responsibility for ensuring that SCS conducts its business in compliance with applicable SEC, et. al. laws and regulations.
- Selection, retention, management and evaluation of outside counsel.
- Advise on legal aspects of business structures and legal entities.
Qualifications
- Required: Law Degree. Admitted to practice.
- Minimum of ten years of experience in the practice of law including private practice and in house experience. Litigation experience desired.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts, including outside attorneys, senior management and business associates.
- Knowledge intellectual property law including patent and copyright law.
- Experience managing other attorneys and supervising support staff as well as experience with cost effective management of outside legal resources.
Pay Range
USD $200,000.00 - USD $290,000.00 /Yr.
