Brown and Caldwell (BC) is seeking a Municipal Tank & Storage Leader to join our Drinking Water Practice. The successful candidate will assist in growing BC’s Drinking Water Practice and will lead teams to deliver exceptional service to our municipal clients. In this technical role, you will support business development, lead execution of high-quality solutions, and develop talent by utilizing your technical expertise to advise on drinking water projects and help ensure successful client project delivery. You will participate in the mentoring and career development of our junior engineering staff with a specific focus on drinking water treatment system evaluation and design. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with highly experienced technical experts and other leaders from the BC Drinking Water Team. You will support projects nationally as well as contribute to the sales strategy for BC’s Eastern business region.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Technical
- Advise on drinking water treatment design work for water treatment facilities and infrastructure.
- Engage directly with delivery team throughout project life cycle of tank and storage projects, including early concept development, solution selection, project design, execution, and risk mitigation.
- Support project teams in planning and/or designing drinking water plants within our project delivery framework.
- Utilize experience and expertise to guide clients through available solutions to complex water treatment system problems.
- Support development of design guides, standards, and specifications associated with drinking water tank and storage design.
- Perform quality control reviews ensuring the work products meet BC standards and effectively manages project risks.
- Direct the work of drafters and designers, coordinate with other disciplines.
Client Development and Sales
- Play an active role with BC Client Service Teams in the maintenance of existing clients and the development of new client relationships.
- Directly engage with clients to build relationships, assess needs, and develop technical solutions.
- Bring technical insights from engagement with client peers/network.
- Coordinate with Area Practice Leader and National Practice Leader to provide input on business strategy.
Talent Development
- Mentor teams of project engineers in delivering drinking water treatment projects and professional growth.
- Coach and mentor junior engineers and designers.
- Support recruiting (identifying needs and candidates, informing decisions), communicate perceived gaps and needs.
BC Brand and Industry Leadership
- Prepare and make presentations to clients for pursuits, proposals, and project technical meetings.
- Actively engage in local and national industry associations to expand BC recognition in the industry for drinking water services.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Mechanical, Environmental or Civil Engineering.
- 20+ years of experience in drinking water projects.
- Experience should include one or more of the following: water treatment plant processes, pump stations, chemical storage and dosing system, raw and/or finished water storage, water treatment infrastructure evaluation, assessment, and design.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License, Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- M.S. degree in Mechanical, Environmental or Civil Engineering.
- Extensive experience in serving clients, collaboration and building consensus, sales and marketing, branding, and business growth.
- Strong technical mentoring skills, technical writing, leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
- Proven success in technical presentation, proposal writing, and public presentations.
Salary Range:
Location A: $180,000 - $210,000
Location B: $190,000 - $220,000
Location C: $200,000 - $230,000
