JOB SUMMARY:

Journeyman pipefitter is responsible for the lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems. Journeyman pipefitter has a strong understanding of pipefitting techniques and tools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Cut and thread pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders.

Attach pipes to walls, structures and fixtures using brackets, clamps, tools.
Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by brazing, cementing, soldering, pressing, and threading joints.
Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.
Measure and mark pipes for proper installation.
Lay out of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment, following plans, details, and specifications.

Select pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications and details.
Must be able to use an Oxygen and Acetylene Torch to cut steel pipe

Must understand construction terms.
Must be able to work overtime as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including material usage, measurements and completed tasks.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Able to lift 50lbs.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
• Work outside in extreme weather.
• Work at various heights above floor with ladder, scaffold, and manlift.
• Must be able to work in excavated trenches.
• Have the required hand tools to perform as a pipefitter.
• Knowledge of the piping system being installed (chilled water, heated water, steam, and condensate.
• Strong math skills along with having an aptitude for math.
• Able to stand, walk and squat for long periods of time.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 18 years of age or older.
• Certificate for apprenticeship program preferred, or equivalent working experience.
• 5 years of piping and/or mechanical construction field experience.

LICENSES/SPECIAL TRAINING:
• OSHA 10
• OSHA 30 (preferred)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to sit, stand, walk; use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
