Torch Technologies is seeking a dynamic and motivated Stakeholder Coordinator for Fires Prototyping Initiatives to lead and facilitate advocacy for using virtual testbeds and decision aids to advance Army Fires capabilities. This key role involves coordinating stakeholder requirements for technology prototyping, conducting demonstrations for senior leaders, and acting as a Fires subject matter expert (SME) liaison for the Huntsville based engineering team. The stakeholder coordinator will engage with junior staff on research projects related to Missile Science and Technology (S&T) efforts, prepare presentations for senior leaders, develop concepts for innovative mission planning, and provide insights to improve demonstrations of prototype applications. Additionally, the role includes defining realistic mission vignettes and helping to define simulation scenarios to validate contributions of prototype technologies. The coordinator will also support outreach efforts by preparing narratives for congressional ask initiatives and white papers proposing future missile S&T efforts. This position is offered through the DoD SkillBridge Program. The Torch Technologies DoD SkillBridge Program is open to all ranks, enlisted or officer. We are proud to help our nation’s service members make the transition from active duty to civilian life through specific industry training during the end of their service, up to 180 days. Service members will continue to receive military compensation and benefits through the Department of Defense. Upon completing the program, we aim to bring on every service member as a full-time employee.
This position requires a highly motivated individual with experience in both operational and institutional Army operations. This individual would be responsible to:
- Identify and coordinate Army stakeholder requirements to guide Fires related prototyping efforts.
- Conduct demonstrations of prototype technologies to existing and new stakeholders.
- Act as a remote site liaison for the Huntsville-based engineering team.
- Identify Army Fires-related research topics for missile Science and Technology (S&T) efforts.
- Assist in the preparation and conduct of virtual testbed presentations and demonstrations for senior Army leadership.
- Provide air defense subject matter expertise to ongoing research initiatives related to the Augmented Intelligence for Mission Planning and Control (AIMPAC) decision aids S&T effort.
- Develop vignettes and scenarios to test and validate AIMPAC-developed technologies.
- Critique user interface designs of prototype air and missile defense planning applications.
- Learn to modify simulation scenario files and run AFSIM simulations to support analysis activities.
- Develop concepts for new applications of visualization tools in support of Army Fires training and doctrine development.
- Assist in advocating for future research initiatives and prepare white papers to explain and justify these requests.
- Monitor and review Army and Department of Defense leadership statements on desired future technology capabilities.
- Assist in writing white papers to characterize new prototyping opportunities, emphasizing the innovation through integration approach.
DoD SkillBridge Eligibility:
- Currently an active-duty service member
- Is within 2-4 months of separation or retirement.
- Will receive an honorable discharge.
- Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
- Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months.
- Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to the start of the internship; some bases may require an MOU, an MOU should be completed between the base and Torch as required.
- Meets DoD SkillBridge Qualifications as per DODI 1322.29.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in military operations, defense planning or defense research and development.
- Relevant experience with air defense units at multiple echelons from battery, to battalion, to Army Air and Missile Defense Command (AAMDC).
- Familiarity with air defense systems and corresponding missile technologies.
- Experience conducting stakeholder engagements and leadership collaboration.
- Prior experience with and knowledge of Army air and missile defense doctrine and tactics
- Subject matter expertise with Joint and Army air and missile defense planning
- Demonstrated effective work with cross functional teams and lead/direct the work of others
- Must be able to effectively communicate orally and possess technical writing skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in military science, strategic studies, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of Army Fires modernization initiatives and future operational concepts.
- Experience with using decision aids to augment mission planning.
- Proficiency with simulation tools such advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM)
- Background in proposal writing and advocacy for technology initiatives.
- Previous experience mentoring or managing concept development or research teams.
