About Us

CCI Systems is a 100% employee-owned communication network solutions company headquartered in Iron Mountain, Michigan. The company was founded in 1955 by James Klungness and Charles Henry with the construction of a cable TV system in Iron Mountain, MI, and together they built and operated one of the largest terrestrial microwave systems in the U.S. By 1964 the company was formally organized and CCI became official, growing from its roots to a 10-man construction crew, and in 1981 CCI Systems, Inc. was incorporated as Cable Constructors, Inc. Founded in 1955 by Klungness and Henry, CCI Systems now operates with over 1,200 team members serving 400+ clients and projects across all 50 states, delivering consulting, engineering, construction management, technical field, and network sustainability services to wireline, wireless, energy, municipal, data center, enterprise, tribal, and government clients nationwide.

CCI Systems became employee-owned in 1985 when the company officially became an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan). The founders chose to make CCI employee-owned to preserve the entrepreneurial spirit and homegrown culture they had built since 1955, ensuring the people doing the work shared directly in the company's success as it grew and diversified. EO reinforces CCI's core values of service, respect, accountability, being forthright, innovation, passion, and collaboration, values the company describes as living at the heart of its operations 60-plus years after its founding, and that continue to anchor its culture even as the business has expanded into new markets and made several acquisitions and divestitures over the decades.
