Epsilon Systems Solutions Inc. is seeking a full-time Fire Safety Assessor in Norfolk, VA.

Summary: The Fire Safety Assessor will act as the subject matter expert in Damage Control, supporting the CNSP/CNSL Fire Safety Assessment Program (FSAP). Responsibilities include planning and monitoring short- and long-term strategies to enhance firefighting capabilities across the US Naval fleet.

Duties And Responsibilities

Fire Safety Assessor will serve as Damage Control subject matter expert in support of the CNSP/CNSL Fire Safety Assessment Program (FSAP). The assessor will conduct shipboard assessments, policy reviews, and training for shipboard Damage Control Organization (DCO) Teams.
As an assessor and subject matter expert will be responsible for policy and technical issues for all aspects of Shipboard Firefighting both within and outside of industrial facilities and will report to the Damage Control Officer. Incumbent plans, executes, monitors short and long-term strategy and process improvement efforts to improve the firefighting capabilities of ships in an industrial environment and by extension to ship's overall firefighting capabilities.
Responsible for planning all aspects of a Damage Control Fire Safety inspection aboard all surface combatant platforms, including monitoring the development of the Schedule of Events (SOE), analyzing required inputs from ship to be inspected, and building the FSAP Damage Control inspection and plan.
Provides technical guidance to Force Damage Control Officer, Program Managers, and surface ships in compliance with all CNSP/CNSL instructions and policies for Shipboard Damage Control and Firefighting Systems, specifically ships in maintenance availability.
Monitor the readiness and material condition of surface ship's firefighting equipment and associated supporting equipment for all CNSL surface ships in industrial availabilities through materiel Casualty Reports (CASREPs), assessments, inspections, and other naval message traffic to identify material problem trends and potential class-wide problem areas.
Maintain liaison with counterparts at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Naval Supervisory Activities, Regional Maintenance Centers (RMCs), support contractors, Fleet Commanders, other CNSP/CNSL TYCOM Directorates and subordinate commands in matters pertaining to planned major industrial availabilities.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent
8 years of recent Navy Damage Control/Firefighting Experience required.
Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
Have and maintain a valid US Passport
Must have a working knowledge of NAVSEA Technical Publication, Industrial Ship Safety Manual for Fire Prevention and Response (S0570-AC-CCM-010/8010).
Proficient using Microsoft Office, Word, Notepad, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Must be able to conduct ship visits daily.
Must be able to communicate well with Senior Military Officers.
Must be able to travel overseas (ROTA, BAHRAIN)
Experience with or completed course in Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)

Requires walking, reaching, sitting and concentration in the presence of occasional noise
Must have manual and finger dexterity; able to grasp, manipulate, assemble small objects
Ability to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways, and up and down antenna masts/yardarms (onboard ships)
Ability to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs in weight
Office, warehouse, laboratory, pier side, shipboard noise conditions range from very quiet to loud noise
