With this acquisition, we’ve combined Six Mile’s local expertise in roadway design with the full breadth of DKS’s national strengths in transportation planning, engineering, and technology. We are now seeking an experienced senior roadway design engineer to serve as our National Roadway Design Practice Leader.

You will build client and agency relationships, oversee complex roadway projects, and guide the professional growth of engineers across the company.

Your Role as National Roadway Design Practice Leader
- Define the vision and strategic direction for roadway design at DKS.
- Track industry trends and market opportunities to position the firm for growth.
- Contribute to company-wide strategic planning and leadership forums.
- Cultivate strong relationships with agencies, clients, and partner firms.
- Identify and win new business opportunities; lead proposals and interviews.
- Manage a portfolio of complex projects including roadway widening, multimodal corridors, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, and innovative intersections.
- Provide high-level QA/QC, technical oversight, and project delivery guidance.
- Mentor staff across offices in technical design, client service, and leadership skills.
- Support recruitment and onboarding of top roadway design professionals.
- Represent DKS in industry organizations and promote thought leadership through conferences, committees, and publications.

What We’re Looking For
- Proven Expertise: 15+ years in roadway and transportation design, with a portfolio of successful projects.
- Leadership Experience: Skilled in leading project teams, managing subconsultants, and serving as a client-facing project manager.
- Technical Breadth: Knowledge in roadway, intersection, and roundabout design; drainage; utilities; water quality; bicycle and pedestrian facilities; traffic signals; construction traffic control; signing and striping; and illumination.
- Professional Credentials: PE license required; other specialty certifications a plus.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Ability to grow a practice, expand services, and strengthen DKS’s presence in Idaho and beyond.

Salary Range:
National Roadway Design Practice Leader: $156,800 - $178,800 per year
