POSITION SUMMARY
The Area Director works with the Regional Director to oversee clinical and financial aspects of the assigned communities. Provide ongoing customer service and communication to the Community Executive Directors, Administrators, Director of Nursing, or requested personnel. Ensure each Community is appropriately staffed and conduct chart audits for clinical content and regulatory compliance. Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations.
This position will support our CCRC's in locations such as Allentown, Richlandtown, Souderton, Landsdale, Wernersville, Topton, Carlisle areas as examples. There will be requirement to visit and work out of our communities often and if needed, coverage for back up when therapy managers are off or we have an open position. While there will be times to work remotely, this is NOT a 100% remote role and only local candidates will be considered.
Responsibilities
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (in collaboration with Regional Director)
- Manage day-to-day therapy operations of clients, as well as the direct supervision of department managers.
- Review fiscal operations on a weekly basis.
- Interface with clients including Executive Directors, Administrators, nursing staff, etc., to facilitate needs and client satisfaction.
- Implement new services or clinical operations and train staff.
- Provide continuous education to managers and staff.
- Ensure compliance with all company and facility policies and procedures.
- Ensure adherence to policies, procedures and regulatory requirements for each state under your direction.
- Look for opportunities regarding internal and external growth within the region.
- Assist Regional Director/Vice President with any additional needs.
- Report any issues, concerns or success stories to Regional Director/Vice President as they arise.
- Any and all duties as assigned.
- Provide ongoing monitoring to assure documentation compliance per regulatory and JCAHO requirements as appropriate.
- Create workflow to support HHC services under PDGM guidelines and promote referrals to outpatient services as appropriate.
- Provide oversight of visit scheduling, supervisory visit compliance, appropriate payroll and mileage input.
- Oversee Program Manager, clinical and scheduling staff.
- Coordinate staffing patterns for most efficient delivery of services.
- Assure compliance within rehabilitation guidelines, including JCAH accreditation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Reuired to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analzying data and figures, may include extensive reading and fequently operating a computer.
- Frequently communicates with patients, staff, management, and clients. Must be able to professionally exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Must be able to withstand prolonged or considerable walking, standing, balancing, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting stooping, bending, kneeling or crouching.
- Must be able to complete a max assistant patient transfer (75% employee, 25% patient) independently.
- Must be able to otherwise position or transfer patients as well as supplies and equipment.
- Heavy work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
DEPARTMENT MANAGEMENT

- Mange the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activies of department.

- Make business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
- Review performance data that includes financial, sales, and activity reports and spreadsheets, to monitor and measure departmental productivity, goal achievement, and overall effectiveness.
- Communite regularly with other managers, department heads and other designated contracts within the company.
- Communicate corporate and company policies and procedures to staff members.
HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT
- Plan and allocate resources to effectively staff and accomplish work to meet departmental productivity and quality goals. Work with Human Resources staff to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ an appropriate number of employees.
- Provide oversight and direction to the employees in the department in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
- Coach, mentor, train and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
- Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback.
- Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members. Consciously create a workplace culture that is consistent with the overall organization's and that emphasizes the identified mission, vision, guiding principles, and values of the organization.
- Lead employees using a performance management and development process that provides an overall framework to encourage employee contribution and includes goal setting, feedback, and performance development planning. Identify training and career development needs and work with employees to achieve grown in these areas.
- Provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards, and corrective action, with the assistance of Human Resources, when necessary.
- Lead employees to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment.
- Maintain employee work schedules including assignments, job rotation, training, vacations and paid time off, telecommuting, cover for absenteeism, and overtime scheduling
- Maintain transparent communication. Appropriately communicate organizaton information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and appropriate email, and regular interpersonal communication.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in business or healthcare industry; minimum five years’ experience including high level management experience
- Licensed clinician in PA (physical, occupational, or speech-language).
- Extensive knowledge of Medicare and state regulations related to rehabilitation services.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to manage multiple sites.
- Demonstrate professional appearance, effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Proficient use of computers and Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook.
