Novaspect, Inc., an Emerson Impact Partner and global leader in automation systems and solutions, is currently offering an opportunity for a Business Systems Engineer to join our team in Schaumburg, IL. The successful candidate will design, develop, and support enterprise business systems that power our sales, service, and operational teams through modern applications, integrations, automation, and data-driven solutions.
This is a high-impact role that partners closely with business leaders to modernize systems, streamline workflows, and introduce emerging technologies that improve efficiency and operational insight.
Business Systems Engineer Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Enterprise Application Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain internal applications supporting sales operations, service delivery, and business reporting
- Partner with business stakeholders to translate operational requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Develop both declarative and programmatic solutions across enterprise platforms
- Align application designs with long-term platform and technology strategy
Systems Integration:
- Design, develop, and support integrations across CRM, ERP, reporting, and other enterprise systems
- Establish secure, reliable, and scalable integration patterns using APIs, middleware, and enterprise integration frameworks
- Troubleshoot integration issues and optimize performance across interconnected systems
Automation & AI Enablement:
- Identify, design, and implement automation and AI-enabled solutions that improve workflow efficiency and business decision making
- Implement solutions such as AI-assisted workflow automation, intelligent analytics, and automation of manual operational processes
- Support integration with AI platforms including Azure AI, OpenAI, and Copilot technologies
Data & Reporting:
- Design, maintain, and optimize SQL-based relational databases supporting enterprise applications
- Ensure data integrity, performance, and security across business systems
- Build dashboards and reporting tools that provide actionable operational insights
Quality & Reliability:
- Participate in testing, debugging, and quality assurance to ensure reliable application performance
- Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for optimization and improvement
Documentation & Support:
- Maintain documentation for system architecture, integrations, and applications
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal users and stakeholders
Collaboration:
- Work closely with teams across sales, operations, engineering, and IT to identify opportunities for system improvements and automation
- Communicate technical solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements
Business Systems Engineer Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred
- 4–7 years of experience developing enterprise or business applications
- Experience with modern programming languages such as Java, C#, TypeScript, Salesforce Apex, or similar
- Strong experience designing and implementing APIs and system integrations
- Proficiency with SQL and relational databases
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Business Systems Engineer Preferred Experience:
- Salesforce platform development experience
- ERP platforms such as IFS, SAP, NetSuite, or similar
- Integration platforms such as MuleSoft, Boomi, or similar
- Microsoft ecosystem tools including Azure, Power Platform, and DevOps
- Data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or SSRS
- Experience with automation platforms or AI-enabled workflows
Candidates with strong enterprise development or integration experience are encouraged to apply, even if Salesforce experience is limited.
What Success Looks Like in This Role
Within the first 6–12 months, a successful candidate will:
- Deliver new or improved integrations between Salesforce, ERP, and reporting platforms
- Automate manual processes that improve efficiency for sales, service, and operational teams
- Improve visibility into business performance through enhanced data integration and reporting
- Identify opportunities to modernize systems using automation, integrations, and emerging technologies
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and become a trusted technical resource
Business Systems Engineer Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work extended hours on a computer
Business Systems Engineer Pay:
- Base Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000
- Potential Bonus: 5%
The final offer will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to the candidate's depth of experience, skill set, qualifications, and internal pay equity. Hiring at the top end of the range would not be typical, to allow for future meaningful salary growth in the position.
