About the Role
Nevell Group, Inc. is seeking a Risk Coordinator (Safety, Claims & Contract Compliance) to join our Risk Management Department in Brea, CA.
This position plays an important role in supporting the company’s risk management efforts through safety oversight, workers’ compensation and claims administration, and contract compliance coordination. The Risk Coordinator will work under the direction of the General Counsel and collaborate closely with the Director of Safety to support safety programs, claims management, contract review workflows, and job rights administration.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment while coordinating multiple priorities across safety, legal, and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Workers’ Compensation Claims
- Maintain and organize safety records including JHAs, training records, toolbox meetings, OSHA 300 logs, incident investigations, certifications, and job walk documentation
- Track and report safety performance metrics on a regular basis
- Coordinate workers’ compensation claims administration, including employee communication, injury follow-up, and treatment coordination
- Conduct regular claim reviews with TPAs and insurance carriers to track claim status, reserves, and strategy
- Escalate high-risk claims or issues to the General Counsel
- Track compliance with contractual safety staffing requirements across projects
- Maintain a project-by-project log of safety staffing, certifications, and documentation
- Assist in coordinating job site safety coverage based on contractual requirements and certifications
- Support safety professionals with safety plans, OSHA/DIR correspondence, and communication with general contractors
- Promote safe work practices and compliance with company policies and Federal, State, and Local safety regulations
Risk Management & Legal Support
- Assist the General Counsel with claims management, insurance matters, subpoenas, and litigation support
- Coordinate contract review workflows for project agreements with general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors
- Gather scope documents, exhibits, and revisions to support timely contract review and execution
- Perform initial administrative review of contract terms, including insurance, scope, scheduling, and key risk provisions
- Draft and organize contract redlines, summaries, and negotiation notes
- Maintain records of executed agreements and related documentation
- Support master agreement administration with general contractors and vendors, including renewal tracking and document management
- Assist with job rights administration, including preliminary notice tracking, lien and stop payment documentation, and deadline tracking
- Support the finance team with accounts receivable risk tracking and collection documentation
Additional Responsibilities
- Serve as the day-to-day administrator for workers’ compensation and claims documentation
- Coordinate risk and safety training logistics, certifications, and documentation
- Support internal communications regarding safety, claims reporting, and compliance requirements
- Assist with preparation of legal documentation, deposition exhibits, and discovery responses
- Coordinate communication between internal departments, safety personnel, and external partners
- Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) required
- Minimum six (6) years of business experience
- At least two (2) years of experience in construction, safety, loss control, or risk management within a mid-to-large construction organization preferred
- Familiarity with construction operations, contract terminology, and insurance programs
- Experience with Federal, State, and Local Environmental Health & Safety regulations
Technical Skills & Software
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience working with claims tracking systems, contract documentation, or safety compliance software
- Strong computer and document management skills
