Fuel Technician
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

- Job Purpose/Objective
This position is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of all RTT, School Bus, ConRac transportation vehicles. In addition, this position is responsible for the general care, cleaning, overall appearance of the entire base yard as well as fueling of all company vehicles.
- Essential Job Functions
Incumbent may perform any or all the following:
- Turn in paperwork for the day: Fuel logs, invoices, work orders, performance sheets
- Prepare new Fuel Log papers for the day.
- Prep catch/drip pans for fueling absorbing pads.
- Check fueling station/equipment/pipes/lights to be in working order and signs of no leaks.
- Fuel all company vehicles at the fuel station with the fuel recommended type, (diesel or unleaded gasoline), during service hours of operation.
- Write down all vehicle information onto the appropriate fuel log paperwork.
- Check fire extinguisher areas are accessible and not blocked.
- Knowledge of safety features of fuel tanker/pumps and ensure working order.
- Maintain general cleanliness of fuel tank area, DEF station, cart area, shop area.
- Clean any fluid spills inside, outside, and around shop building areas.
- Clear rubbish and red rags.
- Sweep and mop inside of the working areas of the shop building and sweep/pickup rubbish outside on pavement, along riverside of building and the fence side of the property daily.
- Cleaning all restrooms daily by sweeping & mopping floor and cleaning toilets & basins as needed.
- Restocking restrooms supplies: soap, paper towels, & toilet seat covers.
- Cleaning. Sweeping, mopping of breakrooms & offices (Dispatch, Training, & Maintenance areas.)
- Fuel and clean shop trucks and vans.
- Receiving of Diesel and Unleaded gasoline upon delivery
- Landscaping duties monthly of property & outside areas: airport & sand island properties.
- Clean fuel hose after delivery and return to shop area
- Assist with the delivery/pickup for the Parts Department
- Fill DEF fluid into vehicles & log onto the DEF log sheets.
- Ensure refill station is in working order, no signs of leakage at end of the day.
- Assist with tires, body shop, detail, wash rack as needed
- Clean uniform and lunchroom areas of hangers & rubbish.
- Closing duties to prepare for next day:
- Check DEF container to refill cart.
- Run fuel report numbers/quantities
- Clean/check fuel area and sweep/mop shop area before leaving.

- Working Conditions/Job Environment
- Able to lift push, pull a minimum of 50 + pounds
- Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion.
- Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces. This factor is important if the amount and kind of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
- Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
- Crawling: Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
- Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
- Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
- Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine discriminations in sound.
- The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach; performing mechanical or skilled trade’s tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.
- The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.
- The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
- The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.
- The worker is subject to oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
- Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other Team Members within the organization
- Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions
- Work environment includes moderate noise levels (groups, machinery)
- Must be able to walk, stand, bend, possess manual dexterity
- Must be able to cope with detailed work possessing good vision, depth perception, peripheral vision
- Able to work in moderate noise levels and fumes from machinery
