POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Technician supports manufacturing operations by ensuring products and processes meet established quality standards, customer requirements, and internal procedures. This role performs inspections, audits, and documentation management while partnering with production teams to identify quality issues, support corrective actions, and maintain compliance with ISO and BAC quality systems. The Quality Technician operates with minimal supervision and serves as a resource on the production floor, providing guidance to mechanics and cross-functional teams to uphold product integrity and continuous improvement efforts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to read and understand the quality requirements documented in reference material and work with the shop to assure that each policy, procedure, and work instruction is followed.
- Extensive knowledge of Baltimore Aircoil Products (including but not limited to aftermarket components, coils, props, and fill bundles).
- Maintain and update quality related documentation (i.e., ECNs, ECRs, GQS, NCR Log, Tool Calibration Records, and Verification Forms) to be used for answering shop questions as a quick reference guide.
- Perform any special assignments or requests issued by the Quality Assurance Manager and/or Quality Team Lead. .
- Assist with production testing, field inspections, and special assignments as directed by Quality leadership
- Have a basic understanding of how to assemble all the units of the entire BAC-Madera product line including all special accessories.
- Have a basic understanding of auditing procedures and ability to investigate/correct based off an audit finding.
- Ability to perform and support audits, identify nonconformance, and assist with corrective actions
- Capability to read and interpret certified prints, paperwork, drawings, and use reference documents (i.e., BAC Reference Guides)
- Ability to learn BAC-Madera’s quality assurance and ISO policies and procedures.
- Ability to learn BAC-Madera’s inspection procedures and demonstrated ability to follow written instructions.
- Be able to capably handle the administrative (paperwork) requirements associated with the position.
- Capability to understand quality standards and seek out issues on the line to communicate to Quality Team Lead..
- Understanding basic Lean Principles of 8 Wastes and 5S program. The ability to contribute new ideas and sustain these processes.
- Must consistently demonstrate good performance around productivity, safety, and overall work habits.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Quality Team leader, Quality Assurance Manager and/or Plant Manager.
- Perform all duties related to inspection priorities or quality guidance as requested by the Team leader and/or Operation Manager
- Internal Applicants: Cannot have any counseling or corrective actions or be on a performance improvement plan (PIP) within the last twelve months.
- Executes against standard processes and Key Performance Indicators (KPls) as defined in the global operating standard established in BAC Excellence (BAC-X) including Global Assembly Standardization (GAS) expectations.
- Maintain punctual and regular attendance. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area and comply with all safety regulations.
- Adapt to changing job schedules and shifting production priorities.
- Demonstrate consistent performance in productivity, safety, and work habits.
- Understand upstream and downstream customer impacts and contribute to quality and on time delivery.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned by leadership.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in manufacturing, quality, or related field preferred
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or quality environment
- Experience working with production teams, inspections, and quality documentation
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience supporting audits, quality investigations, and corrective actions preferred
- Proven track record of strong attendance, productivity, and safe work practices
Technical Knowledge
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and assembled products across production departments
- Familiarity with BAC products (e.g., coils, props, fill bundles, aftermarket components)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, certified prints, BOMs, and quality documentation
- Understanding of quality systems, including ISO standards, inspection procedures, and audit processes
- Experience with quality documentation and tracking systems (e.g., ECNs, ECRs, NCR logs, GQS, calibration records, verification forms)
- Knowledge of production and quality documents (e.g., reference guides, inspection plans, CQTs, IPIs, testing reports)
- Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles (5S, 8 Wastes) and continuous improvement practices
- Basic knowledge of computers including but not limited to Windows Explorer, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and SAP.
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to reconcile discrepancies across data sources
- Effective communication skills with the ability to engage all levels of the organization
- Ability to support production testing, field inspections, and special assignments as needed

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The working environment includes lifting up to 50lbs. Standing is to be expected up to 50% of the time. Additional activities include walking, reaching, bending, stooping, and sitting. Fine hand manipulation of controls is needed as well as hand eye coordination to perform changes. Exposures include elevated noise levels associated with a manufacturing environment, fluctuations in temperature ambient conditions as well as intermittent exposure to the weather in and about the yard and dock areas. Working hours can include any of three shifts and generally are scheduled for forty hours a week. Some weekend overtime is expected. Working temperatures include both wide fluctuations within the plant as well as ambient outside temperatures. This position requires occasional domestic and international travel up to 10% of the time.
BAC Hiring Compensation Range $25-35 per hour.
