Salary Range: $70,000.00 To $90,000.00 Annually, Salary will be dependent upon experience.
Summary:
As a Construction Project Engineer, you are responsible for managing civil-related construction projects primarily for land development, transportation, municipal and district clients. The Project Engineer is part of a larger team of clients, engineers, architects, contractors, and local and state agencies who must work in unison to achieve project success. Familiarity with civil construction and in particular, the ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications is important. Experience in roadway, utility, structures and similar construction is desired. The Project Engineer prepares the scope, budget, and schedule for projects to ensure contract requirements are understood and well-planned, and is responsible for project quality control and coordination during construction. The Project Engineer facilitates project meetings with internal staff and clients and makes presentations concerning specific aspects of construction projects, as well as overseeing the work of technical staff.
Essential Functions:
Construction Project Management
- Manage several construction projects simultaneously.
- Inspect and enforce construction standards and contract requirements.
- Prepare bid documents and evaluate proposals.
- Perform value engineering and constructability reviews.
- Prepare cost estimates and manage project budgets.
- Maintain effective communications with project teams and clients.
- Collaborate with project engineers on submittals, RFIs, and other technical matters.
- Procure and oversee project survey and geotechnical support.
- Oversee and approve contractor work plans and schedules.
- Collaborate with project inspectors in managing project quality and safety.
- Perform contract administration including change orders and pay requests.
- Direct final inspection, project closeout, and client acceptance activities.
- Monitor and manage financial aspects of projects with billing department.
- Ensure that the staff resources are deployed in a productive and profitable manner.
Construction Services Marketing and Business Development
- Assist and advise the CS Director as required with department-level activities.
- Foster business opportunities through networking and relationship development.
- Participate in organizing and writing major proposals and statements of qualification.
- Participate in presentations and interviews as appropriate.
Corporate Contributions
- Develop partnering relationships with Matrix employees to assist on multi-disciplined projects.
- Provide comments and suggestions for the direction of the CS department and the firm.
- Maintain billability at annual targeted rates.
- Embrace and support the corporate strategic plan and objectives.

- Ability, and willingness to travel and work at various project sites and other facility offices.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, manage, direct and provide oversight of tasks and responsibilities for construction staff and/or other technical support. Mentor and train construction staff as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field.
- 3-7 years of progressive Construction Management experience.
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Proficient at Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Project software.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Valid driver's license, in conjunction with successfully passing the Company’s MVR screening.
