We are looking for a Production Manager to join our Smartpress team in Duncan, South Carolina. You’ll be part of a talented group that collaborates to deliver world-class products to our customers. You will be responsible for managing, mentoring and coaching employees working in the wide/large format printing department (whether it be prepress, printing, fabrication, cutting (Zund), assembly and kitting). The Production Manager, with the help of the Production Supervisors, trains Leads, new and existing employees on the most efficient and effective methods of machine set-up, SOP, and process flow. The Production Manager is responsible for the overall effectiveness of his or her team members which includes: managing variable costs such as direct labor and materials, reducing waste, reducing re-work, and supporting Continuous Improvement initiatives and Core Values. The Production Manager identifies the need for additional resources, human capital or machinery, and creates the cost/benefit analysis. This position has responsibility for performance reviews, staff development, employee engagement, and addressing any necessary disciplinary actions as required.
Shifts available: Monday through Friday 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM
A variety of these traits will help land you this job if you have:
a High School diploma or equivalent GED
a minimum of 5-10 years experience in a manufacturing environment with at least 3 years experience in the printing industry as a Production or Assembly Lead or Manager
OSHA 10 Hour certification a plus
On top of that you must:
be able to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing. Strong interpersonal skills including, demonstrated listening skills and the ability to present ideas and thoughts concisely and effectively both internally and outside the organization
have basic computer skills
be self-motivated, a fast learner, and show initiative to seek out customer and corporate needs
be able to be flexible and reprioritize as needed based on business needs.
obtain strong organizational skills to handle multiple projects at the same time, while keeping records detailed and accurate.
In this position, you will:
motivate, mentor, coach and train employees for professional development, employee engagement, and the creation of a safe and inclusive environment

work closely with Production Leads, as well as other production leadership, in prioritizing and directing department work flow
support safe environment, driving towards 0 OSHA recordables
maintain high quality standards
ensure assembly and machine throughput quality and integrity through continuous monitoring of departmental processes in conjunction with the Production Lead
oversee the maintenance of appropriate levels of supplies to meet production requirements
monitor issues and receipts for work orders in conjunction with the Production Lead
establish open lines of communication with the production floor
represent corporate policy and communicate to employees as required
ensure training and skills matrix are in compliance with training policy
work toward continuous improvement
monitor efficiency and productivity and implement improvements
implement cost reductions where possible
drive improvements in material flow, including cell design and material delivery Interact with other support departments as required
provide the cost/benefit analysis for the acquisition of new equipment and ensure Production Lead is trained on the equipment as the subject matter expert
troubleshoot production problems to ensure productivity and quality standards are met.
perform miscellaneous projects and complete various tasks as requested by others in management
