POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Building Services Technician is responsible for maintaining the smooth and uninterrupted operations of Guttman’s corporate headquarters buildings. This includes performing general maintenance and building services, upkeep of facilities, and coordinating more complex repairs. This role will be responsible for processing all incoming and outgoing mail, as required or scheduled. The position also includes assisting with the general maintenance and repair of the company’s various real estate properties and company owned unmanned fueling stations, in essence being a jack of all trades related to building maintenance.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and coordinate building services.
- Inspect, identify, and perform general repairs pertaining to facility maintenance, which may include plumbing, minor electrical repair, clearing of snow and ice on sidewalks, changing light bulbs, upkeep of various office equipment, garbage removal, drywall repair, setting up for events, scrub carpets, etc.
- Ensure all maintenance operations are completed in accordance with applicable safety guidelines and codes.
- Manage routine maintenance and inspections of various building systems, such as HVAC.
- Coordinate the completion of complex repairs and maintain relationships with contractors and service providers.
- Sort incoming mail and packages for distribution, as required or scheduled.
- Prepare, distribute and collect office mail and packages, as required or scheduled.
- Prepare outgoing mail and packages for distribution, including ensuring proper postage and labeling, as required or scheduled.
- Ensure mail runs are done in a timely manner.
- Responsible for managing the appropriate inventory in relation to both maintenance and mailing tasks (light bulbs, plumbing supplies, sidewalk salt, and various mailing supplies).
- Light landscaping tasks, such as miscellaneous weeding, leaf pick-up, and hedge trimming.
- Assist in company record storage management.
- Coordinate opening and/or closing of front access gate at the beginning and end of each day.
- Assist employees as needed with various tasks.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Customer service background.
- Analytic capabilities and teamwork skills to work with temporary and other staff to complete project on time and on budget.
- Must be flexible and able to use discretion when dealing with confidential mail, co-workers and customers.
- Flexibility for unplanned overtime when unpredictable emergencies arise.
- Working knowledge of USPS and UPS procedures and regulations a plus.
- Minor maintenance and repair knowledge
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds unassisted.
- Valid driver’s license.
