SUMMARY: The Operational Excellence Manager at Baker Electric will play a key role in process improvement initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify inefficiencies and implement streamlined procedures. They will work closely with all departments and project teams to normalize processes and ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Furthermore, they will conduct comprehensive gap analyses to identify areas for improvement and contribute to strategic decision-making. We are seeking candidates with experience in implementing continuous improvement processes within the construction industry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner with multiple operating groups to drive significant improvements in processes and procedures to achieve operational excellence.
- Establish, manage, facilitate, and implement continuous process improvement initiatives as directed by the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
- Monitor and ensure effective implementation of strategic plans developed by ELT/SLT.
- Develop processes that are maintainable, flexible, and scalable to support business growth and efficiency.
- Identify and implement process improvements, optimize workflows, and reduce waste to enhance overall business operations' efficiency and effectiveness.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement through training, coaching, and accountability mechanisms.
- Collaborate with the Learning & Development team to roll out process improvements effectively across the organization.
- Create and utilize reports, analytics, and assessment tools to evaluate the performance and impact of new processes.
- Mentor and train operational managers in continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM).
- Act as a leader in promoting and embedding a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Coordinate monthly operational metric reviews for divisions. Manage and monitor Balanced Scorecard performance and actions on monthly basis
- Lead or facilitate projects or events such as Rapid Improvement Events, Value Stream Map (VSM) process, Continuous Flow, Standardization 5S+, Error Proofing, Eliminating Waste, TPM, Pull System, etc.
- Promote and maintain 5S strategies as a standard for operational excellence.
- Coach and mentor other departments in root cause analysis and problem-solving tools/methods (Six Sigma, 8D, etc.). Act as a change agent to drive the elimination of waste and lead time reduction.
- Develop and improve the overall construction capacity and improve utilization via specific KPI monitoring
- Identify root cause of inefficiencies within processes. Quantify the order of magnitude of inefficiencies; continual data mining/driving in measurable terms to prioritize projects that will make the greatest impact. Support the strategy development & drive to completion with appropriate resources.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, or related field preferred.
- Lean Six Sigma – Black Belt certification preferred.
- Proven experience as an Operational Excellence Manager or similar role, with at least 5 years in driving process improvements.
- Experience in the construction industry preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to identify process gaps and implement effective process improvements.
- Strong business acumen with a track record of delivering measurable results.
- Experience as a role model in implementing and sustaining 5S strategies.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Tech-savvy and proficient in using technology to drive process improvements and analyze data.
- Competent using ERP systems. Knowledge of Procore and Spectrum Systems a plus
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills

- High emotional intelligence and adept at overcoming resistance to change.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and drive consensus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standard office environment. Individual will frequently be required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear. Occasionally may have to lift boxes full of materials for purposes of setup of programs, typically 25 pounds or less.
