Job Summary
This role will provide direction and leadership to the Maintenance Department while ensuring the performance standards are maintained within the facility. This includes optimization of the equipment reliability/productivity, utilization of system capability, implementation of process improvements, reducing plant costs, ownership of facilities maintenance & projects, and providing effective leadership for the Maintenance Department.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Leads a team that ensures equipment meets ConMet standards for safety, quality, and reliability. Ensures that quality and workmanship standards are met and continuously improved.
- Provide leadership, vision and guidance to the operations, maintenance, utility, and manufacturing support services functions as appropriate pertaining to equipment and facilities maintenance.
- Provides oversight of staff, with input on selection, counseling, annual reviews, and recognition, promotional, disciplinary, termination, and other personnel actions
- Establish a “Safety First” culture on the site and improve safety performance by championing our level of awareness and changing all staff and partner safety behaviors.
- Monitor work order data to ensure compliance with established KPIs.
- Manage operations, maintenance, and capital improvements of all Life Safety, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Security
- Analyze equipment downtime ramification and develops Emergency Response Action Plans in the event of equipment failure.
- Provide overall facility services in accordance with accounts’ standard processes and procedures including application of policies and programs, coordination of information.
- Ensure compliance with portfolio wide initiatives and required local, state, and federal laws and regulations that pertain to the operating of facilities.
- Effectively manage the training and development of skills, knowledge and abilities within the department.
- Efficiently manage operating budget while focusing upon optimization and reduction of plant costs.
- Oversee the preparation of capital budget compilation, maintenance and reporting.
- Provide project management direction to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Oversee the troubleshooting of technical problems in the plant; provide direction as required.
- Oversee the coordination of technical projects with suppliers, engineering firms, manufacturers, contractors and all departments within the company.
- Initiate, implement, and manage the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the industry, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance.
- Monitor the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
- Prepare reports, analyze data, and make recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
- Maintain and update operating and training manuals for the maintenance department.
- Track, analyze and improve key maintenance parameters such as maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, etc.
- Assists in assuring all equipment is safe for employees to operate. Replaces or repairs inoperative machine guards or malfunctioned equipment. Recognizes and initiates actions for process abnormalities and other process issues.
- Leads and supports the implementation and upkeep of our asset management system, including maintenance work orders and critical parts for repair of key equipment.
- Files documentation to verify PM has been performed to ISO / TS specifications. Abides by ConMet quality policy with reference to ISO / TS work instructions.
- Fills out work orders and assists equipment vendors on-site as needed.
- Submits requisitions to Purchasing Department for specialized repairs and new parts.
- Conducts safety meetings and performs monthly safety checks to stay in compliance with the ConMet safety program. Assists in training of employees in production and safety.
- Assists in applying all federal regulations that would influence ConMet with safety and environmental issues. Assists in OSHA, EPA, and other government regulated inspections.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 5+ years of maintenance work experience and/or skilled trade leadership in a heavy-duty manufacturing environment.
Education & Experience
- Ability to work in a highly responsive manner and ensure production schedules are met.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and other technical drawings in a problem-solving context.
- Ability to lead a group while under the pressures of a production schedule, directing others through instruction and by example.
- Willingness to support maintenance activities on other shifts and on weekends as production schedules require.
- Ability to communicate on a technical level to vendors over the phone, by email, and in person.
- Knowledge of safety and federal regulations to ensure compliance in existing operations and new upcoming projects.
- Visual acuity necessary for detailed part inspection.
- Forklift license is beneficial but not required.

Environmental & Physical Demands
- Occupational noise exposure is high during performance of most required duties. Adequate hearing protection is provided and always required.
- Occupational exposure to fumes and dust is regularly encountered. Personal Protective Equipment including safety glasses and steel-toed, industrial footwear is always required.
- Some duties require reaching and lifting of objects up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 60 lbs.
