The Manager, QA Lab oversees a team of quality technicians and specialists and communicates expectations clearly and ensures their team is appropriately trained to the latest standards and provides coaching and development opportunities. On major quality issues, the Manager, QA Lab will act as the contact point and coordinate efforts with their team and the rest of the quality department to address the situation and assure customer satisfaction. Oversee/manage the Quality Management System and ensure its compliance with ISO9000. Report out on quality metrics and coordinate with the appropriate quality engineer to address issues or implement improvements.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Oversees and monitors the inspection and testing of materials, parts, and products to ensure adherence to established quality standards.
- Oversees aspects of the QA budget and manages to these constraints.
- Training and managing team members in standard procedures and quality assessment.
- Schedule and conduct internal audits and coordinate and observe ISO9000 surveillance and recertification audits.
- Prepares reports on quality metrics, staff utilization, measurement capability gaps and presents to other members of management.
- Coordinate/lead containment activity that spans multiple production areas and/or the field and supply chain.
- Manages the Hold Notice and Scrap Report Systems.
- Manages the QA hold area.
- Manages gage calibration and assigns calibration duties.
- Builds relationships with team members to be viewed as a valuable resource to help facilitate and drive corrective actions and improvements.
- Mentors/trains other members of the QA team and within Henny Penny on problem solving/continuous improvement tools and metrology techniques.
- Leads development of special department projects and work in conjunction with other quality members.

What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years of experience as a quality technician or quality specialist or 5+ years and an associate degree in a science or business-related field. 2+ years of experience in a leadership position a plus (i.e. coach, teacher, volunteer association leadership, professional association leadership, etc.).
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated proficiency with problem solving and continuous improvement tools and techniques (7 Quality Tools, FMEA, VSM, SPC, MSA, etc.)
- Ability to read engineering prints and an excellent understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Proficient with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiar with basic metrology skills.
- Familiar with metrology calibration methodologies
- Someone who is self-motivated, a team player, and has a desire to grow, based on his/her performance.
- Seeks to continuously improve skills.
- Ability to quickly identify quality issues, problem solve, and make decisions in a timely manner.
- CQT is a plus.
- CQA is a plus.
