Construction Materials Engineering Technician

About The Role:

This role is ideal for individuals seeking to refine their skills in testing construction materials, including soil, concrete, asphalt, and other relevant materials, while earning additional industry certifications. As a Construction Materials Engineering Technician, you will spend most of your time outdoors, participating in projects and ensuring their integrity and safety. Your contributions will be recognized as you witness projects come to life and gain valuable expertise.

Review plans and specs to ensure on-site testing aligns with project requirements
Perform and observe field and lab tests on construction materials like soil, concrete, and asphalt to confirm compliance
Use advanced tools like Metafield® to record and report testing results
Calibrate testing equipment to meet industry standards for accuracy
Conduct Special Inspections to guarantee regulatory compliance and quality
Communicate effectively with project teams, contractors, and clients to ensure smooth collaboration and project success.

About You:

You have a High School diploma/GED
You have a minimum of 2 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials
You have two(2) or more active certifications:
American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician
International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)
You have effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
You have math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure

Work Environment Expectations:

Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day
Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites
Experience shifting work hours based on project needs and weather conditions, including early mornings, some Saturdays, and overtime (paid at time and a half).
