JOB SUMMARY
Proficient in estimating mass excavation, grading, and paving, with additional expertise in wet utilities (sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and water), site concrete (curb, gutter, sidewalk), and structural concrete (retaining walls and bridges). Collaborate with estimating staff throughout the bid process and handle other tasks within the estimating department as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist estimating department with earthwork bid/estimate setup including interpret drawings and specifications, safety, scheduling, contract administration, estimating, cost control, purchasing, quality control, and coordination of field employees.
- Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Bid Preparation: Compile and organize bid documents, ensuring all required information is included and accurate.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project specifications.
- Budget Analysis: Assist in the preparation of project budgets and monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure alignment with estimates.
- Project Analysis: Analyze and evaluate past project performance data to refine and improve future cost estimates.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates and propose mitigation strategies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure estimates align with project goals and company standards.
- Complete other estimating department work as needed.
- Supports achievement of the company's organizational goals and objectives by being cross trained and cross training other to increase knowledge and ability to perform different tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, AND CERTIFICATIONS
2 - 5 year's experience, schooling or background in any of the following: CAD, AGTEK, computer drafting, construction management, civil engineering, engineering or computer technology. Must have strong communication skills.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-employment background screening investigation results that are acceptable to GCC at GCC's sole discretion.
