Job Summary:
If you are a professional looking for an opportunity to work with the global Emerson Systems and Software organization, this is a stimulating opportunity for you! As a Test Automation Engineer, you will work as part of team to test Emerson's software and hardware applications designed for Power plant control system, which are fully assembled and tested in lab environment. Your role will involve designing, developing, and maintaining test frameworks, components, and tools necessary for software testing. You will participate in various performance, functionality and compatibility testing of the software and hardware. You will be responsible for working with managers, leads, testers and developers to understand the product testing requirements.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Analyzing and understanding existing software.
- Collaborating with developers to establish automation requirements and ensure code readiness for automation.
- Crafting frameworks that empower developers to test at all stages of the development process, while contributing to the design of the product codebase by recommending structure, design, and coding practices that facilitate better unit testing.
- Developing comprehensive test plans and automated tests. Writing, executing, and maintaining automated test scripts to validate software functionality and services. Ensure tests are effective in identifying issues and meeting project requirements
- Designing and developing test codes to identify issues that redefine end-user experience and workflow.
- Ensuring that vital test data is available for test execution by creating mock data or configuring test environments.
- Analyzing test coverage to ensure that critical paths are adequately tested. Identify areas of the codebase that lack sufficient test coverage and develop new automated tests as needed.
- Analyzing and reporting test results, including tracking defects and issues uncovered during automated testing.
- Integrating automation frameworks with CI/CD pipelines. Set up and maintain test environments necessary for running automated tests, ensuring consistency and stability.
- Designing and implementing medium and large-scale integration tests and making valuable contributions to the development of central test infrastructure while assisting software developers with unit-testing challenges.
- Tapping into your expertise in quality, frameworks, and automation to drive innovation within the organization.
- Continuously seeing opportunities to improve automation processes, frameworks, and tools.
- Staying updated on the latest automation trends and incorporating new technologies such as AI-assisted tool into the testing process.

For This Role, You Will Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or any related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) or utilizing any test automation framework and experience on various testing methodologies (functional testing, system testing, compatibility testing, performance testing)
- Hands on experience in Windows or Web development using languages like C/C++, .Net, Python, JavaScript, etc.
- Familiarity or experience with DevOps practices.
- Proficiency in working with databases such as MS SQL, MySQL, or Oracle etc.
- Experience in Installation of Windows OS, Drivers, and Microsoft Patches
- Knowledge of virtualization solutions
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
- Experience in popular test automation tools (TestComplete, Selenium, Playwright) is a plus
- Experience in AI tools (GitHub Copilot)
- Experience of field instruments, discrete and continuous Controllers, HMI, and bus technologies and an understanding of power plant control systems.
- Basic understanding of networking protocols and concepts
