Brown and Caldwell has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Biosolids Engineer help lead major projects and deliver exceptional service to our well-established wastewater/biosolids clients. This position will be responsible for serving as an experienced resource on wastewater/biosolids planning and design projects and maintaining and enhancing relationships with existing clients. In this position, you will be directly connected to the Regional Practice Lead (RPL) and National Technology and Innovation Lead (NTIL) for Solids and Energy. Work will include planning, design, construction support, troubleshooting and optimization of wastewater, solids, and energy processes, including assessment of biosolids management practices. Work on relevant developing technologies and research will be identified and pursued in conjunction with company projects and initiatives as part of this role. The RPL will work with you to identify projects and pursuits both inside and outside your relevant geography to support career development and advancement.
This role will also support technical sales within the company, as identified by both the RPL and relevant business unit leaders. This includes conference attendance and participation in association groups, including CWEA, WEF, and regional biosolids associations.
- Actively manage assigned projects and key clients.
- Assume responsibility for meeting budget for assigned projects.
- Play an active role in the maintenance of existing clients and the development of new client relationships, including positioning activities related to current and new projects.
- Provide consultation on solids and energy projects, guide decision-making, and solve problems.
- Develop detailed design documents for solids and energy projects in conformance with company design service’s standards and procedures.
- Participate in improving company resources, tools and Standards to improve design delivery and efficiency for solids and energy projects.
- Prepare and make presentations to clients for project technical meetings.
- Ensure the quality of work products within the scope, budget and schedule of the project.
- Support the development of more junior staff through mentorship on projects.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- S. degree in Civil, Chemical, Sanitary, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering required; MS degree preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in municipal engineering and consulting
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration in California
- Demonstrated experience in the planning of solids and energy projects
- Proficiency with mass and energy balances.
- Design, troubleshooting, optimization experience solids and energy projects preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of biosolids regulations and current issues surrounding PFAS preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and prepare written reports and documents
- Understanding of regulatory compliance and permitting
- Strong project or task management skills
- Experience supporting marketing, proposal writing, and public presentations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel and PowerPoint is required.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record may be required
Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Salary $117,000 - $160,000
