We are looking for a passionate, meticulous, and results-driven Senior Accountant to join our team and contribute to our mission of “doing good by crafting products intentionally, collaboratively, and transparently.”
The Team You’ll Work With …
As the Senior Accountant, you will be an integral part of our talented Accounting team, collaborating to produce and sell the world’s most beautiful tile to residential and commercial clients. You will handle high-volume transactions and manage complex accounting activities, playing a key role in partnering with external strategic partners and supporting teammates across all Fireclay locations. This role offers the opportunity to shape strategic support for an evolving company and drive automation within our financial processes. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this position will be onsite in our new Richmond, CA factory. This is a salaried position and pays $75,000 - $90,000 based on experience, plus a discretionary bonus and stock options.
What You’ll Achieve …
- Drive Multi-Unit Financial Clarity: Oversee Cost Accounting and reporting across diverse business units, analyzing margins for on-site fabrication and in-field installation services. You will ensure that both our manufacturing and construction service arms are performing efficiently and profitably.
- Deliver Critical Insights: Assist with Department and Company Financial Statements, providing accurate consolidated financials, month-end reporting, and specialized production reporting to help lead our manufacturing decisions.
- Master the Month-End: Research and implement improvements to the month-end close process, managing reconciliations and the Asana project management system for our parent company and subsidiaries.
- Own the Fixed Asset Lifecycle: Manage the full cycle of fixed assets, from purchase justification and PO creation to placement into service and physical inventories.
- Ensure Tax & Audit Excellence: Manage annual Federal and Multi-State tax returns with external CPA firms and coordinate with auditors for periodic corporate audits.
- Drive Financial Integrity: Provide essential backup support to AP, AR, and Payroll, ensuring checks and balances are maintained across bi-weekly check runs and collections.
- Champion Innovation: Identify, research, and propose automation tools to increase efficiency across all areas of financial responsibility.
What We Look For in You …
We are looking for someone who is resourceful, independent, and collaborative, with a results-driven mindset. You are excited to leverage technology to scale accounting practices and thrive in a high-growth, stakeholder-centric environment.
- Cost Accounting Expertise: Proven experience in a manufacturing and/or construction setting, specifically with standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory management.
- Industry Experience: 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally within a manufacturing, construction, or retail environment.
- Financial & Production Reporting: Ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable reports.
- Scale Mindset: Recent experience working with companies exceeding $50M in revenue and several hundred employees.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Mission Alignment: A strong belief in B Corp standards—taking care of People and Planet while turning a Profit.
Technical Skills
- Expertise in QuickBooks Enterprise and full-cycle accounting.
- Proficiency in Buildertrend, Procore, Service Titan, Asana, Microsoft Apps, Slack, and Ramp.
- Strong understanding of tax (sales, use, property, income) and audit compliance.
Soft Skills
- Exceptional project management and communication skills.
- A "Measure Twice, Cut Once" approach to accuracy.
- The ability to act as a Brand Ambassador, embodying kindness and honesty.
