Position Summary: The AV Engineer supports both pre-sales and post-sales phases by consulting with clients and internal teams to design and deliver AV solutions. This role includes generating system designs, block diagrams, equipment lists, labor estimates, and providing hands-on installation, troubleshooting, and customer training. The AV Engineer collaborates with Project Managers, Lead Technicians, subcontractors, and client IT teams to ensure seamless project execution and customer satisfaction.

- AV Engineer Specific Responsibilities:
- Ability to translate customer requirements into functional system designs
- Review pre-construction design and documentation
- Provide assistance with technical design and level of effort needed by estimating hours and highlighting logistical challenges for the sales team to consider while pricing the opportunity
- Generate functional system descriptions and block diagram
- Identify all cabling and miscellaneous material needs
- Assist Account Manager with labor and material estimates for projects
- Develop engineering and architectural (RCP/Floor Plan) drawings, calculation, acoustic modeling or other data as required
- Provide on-going engineering support as needed
- Assist with project sign-off
- Meet with vendors/prospective vendors to help evaluate product as requested
- Proficient with Video and Audio-Conferencing configurations
- Control System and DSP Design
- Provide direction to Lead Technicians, Engineers, Programmers for trouble-shooting and final engineering changes
- Test, train and instruct customers and fellow internal team members on the proper use of equipment and systems
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints for solutions
- Investigate and resolve open issues with vendor support teams
- Obtain technical certifications and continual training as directed by management to further develop your career
- Work with Help Desk to resolve escalated service calls as needed
- Help to ensure all projects are done within the scope of work that is defined, installed within the predefined budget and customer deadline
- Provide daily verbal/written updates to Project Management as needed
- Help to ensure all projects are completed and approved by the client with signed “sign off sheets” when appropriate
- Document and submit as-builts for installed solutions
- Travel outside the Twin Cities Metro area may be required. Our primary geographic areas of concentration for sales opportunities are based in a 100-mile radius of the Minneapolis/St Paul; however, regional, and national projects may arise and require travel to these areas

Requirements

Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in engineering or closely related discipline preferred. A minimum of 5 years field experience in the audio/video integration industry preferred; a minimum of 3 years of experience in network engineering in addition to A/V experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Vizio)
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Working knowledge of Video-Conferencing (Cisco and Polycom)
- VoIP Systems (Biamp, QSC, and Polycom)
- Control Solutions (Crestron and Extron)
- DSP Systems (Biamp, QSC, and Polycom)
- Desktop Conferencing Solutions (Zoom, Teams, WebEx)
Certificates And Licenses
- Certified for at least one core Audio DSP product line: Biamp Tesira, QSC QSYS.
- Certified for either Crestron or Extron preferred
- Valid and current Avixa CTS Required; CTS-D certified preferred
Other Requirements: Willingness and ability to work beyond 40 hours per week during peak periods to ensure client needs are met. Ability and willingness to travel as well as work evenings or weekends is required.

- Ability to obtain formal approved clearances (Government or system specific) required
