Substitute Teacher

We are seeking a flexible, dependable, and nurturing Substitute Teacher to support our Early Childhood Education program on an as-needed basis. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment in the absence of regular teaching staff. The ideal candidate is adaptable, responsive to children’s needs, and committed to supporting positive learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment for children of varying ages (toddler, preschool, or school-age as assigned)
Follow lesson plans and daily schedules established by the lead teacher or program
Supervise children at all times, ensuring adherence to health, safety, and licensing regulations
Support children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development through positive interactions and guidance
Assist with classroom routines, including meals, transitions, toileting/diapering (if applicable), and rest time
Communicate effectively with staff and administration regarding classroom needs or concerns
Maintain a clean, organized, and well-prepared classroom environment
Step into different classrooms as needed and adjust to varying teaching styles and age groups

Additional Responsibilities include:

Effective communication with families and co-teachers
Ability to adhere to licensing and NAEYC guidelines
Ability to meet physical requirements of position which include lifting children, pushing strollers/buggies, sitting on the floor and year-round daily outdoor activities.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or minimum of CDA preferred
Experience with young children preferred
