This position is responsible for general maintenance at the Waikiki Monarch Hotel and ensures that hotel maintenance standards are achieved; the hotel Maintenance Technician must perform a variety of tasks; from preventative maintenance to repair. The hotel Maintenance Technician must strive to keep the hotel at a level of high quality. This is a part-time position, and the Technician must be able to work a flexible schedule and be on emergency call.
- Essential Job Functions:
Incumbent may perform any or all the following:
- Must be able to oversee property public space and guest rooms
- Preventative maintenance must be performed to prevent breakdowns
- Must own and bring own tools to the job
- Must work well without constant supervision
- Must be able to respond and handle all customer complaints in a timely manner
- Knowledge of hotel safety requirements
- Knowledge in repairs
- Maintenance experience in plumbing, refrigeration, electrical, A/C, tiling, painting, repairing bathroom fixtures, etc.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems
- Common tasks include painting, electrical accessory replacements and repair, and simple wiring
- Air conditioners must be maintained to manufacturer standards
- Follow up on all Fire / Safety equipment maintenance / replacement
- Refurbishing of chairs, tables, doors, windows, and counters in order to keep it maintained for a long time
- Hotel maintenance workers must respond to guest complaints or issues in a timely manner and must also fulfill work orders issued by Guest Services and / or Housekeeping
- Required to complete daily rounds, checking on basic hotel accommodations and identifying and reporting any problems
- Physical Demands:
- Medium work- exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching frequently when working
- Standing and walking for long periods of time
- Pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping frequently to perform work duties
- Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Must be able to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication
- The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as operating machines, performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks such as maintenance mechanics
- Worker is subject to hazards, includes electrical current, working on scaffolding or high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
- Supervision:
- This position does not supervise other employees
- This position does not make work assignments and/or checks the work of others
- Essential Skills (Minimum qualifications individual must possess when entering position) – i.e. skillsets, education, certifications, etc.
- High school diploma, GED, or 3 months or more of maintenance experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Have a flexible schedule (able to work weekend and holidays)
- Be available for part-time work
- Excellent team player, able to work with a variety of different people
