Harris Group is seeking a Drafter/Designer to join our Charleston, SC office.

Job Summary

The Drafter/Designer will be performing tasks that require fundamental drafting and design techniques as a part of a multidisciplinary engineering team. This role is responsible for preparing routine engineering and construction drawings from rough sketches or from general engineering and design information, utilizing manual or computer-assisted drafting/design techniques. The Drafter/Designer will be involved in the application of engineering fundamentals to engineering design and will prepare preliminary designs for an engineer’s or a senior designer’s approval.

The Responsibilities

Prepare and update existing AutoCAD drawings based on mark ups provided by senior designers or engineering staff.
Create new drawings under the direction of senior design staff.
Support vendor drawing review and approval process.
Organize drawing production to support project schedules and conform to project scope.
Prepare lists, spreadsheets, and databases to document information related to design drawings.

The Requirements

An associate’s degree or drafting certificate; or any equivalent combination of education and drafting/design experience.

Ability to use a computer and computer software programs, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to read drawings
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability and willingness to travel to an off-site location and/or accept client site assignments when required.
Work cooperatively with other drafters and other disciplines to produce a coordinated set of design documents.
Regular and reliable attendance
