As ConMet’s Technical Sales Engineer (Application Engineer), you will be a strategic technical partner to our key customers and will use your engineering and business knowledge to drive growth. You'll manage product portfolios, solve problems, and identify new opportunities. Your understanding of complex technical concepts and efficient program management will be crucial to our success.
Your strong engineering foundation will help you understand our products and processes deeply. Your technical knowledge and sales skills will enable you to present complex solutions clearly, building trust with customers by exceeding their expectations.
You will support the entire product lifecycle, from concept to market launch and beyond. You'll interact with customer engineering, platform, and operations teams, offering high-value design and manufacturing solutions for heavy-duty commercial vehicle components.

The preferred work location for this role is either Greensboro, NC area or the Dallas/Fort Worth/Denton Texas area. However, candidates local to ConMet’s corporate headquarters in Vancouver, WA will also be considered and will be expected to travel to Greensboro/NC or Texas area a minimum of once/per month. Any non-local candidate for either of these work locations must be open to relocation (relocation assistance available).
In this role, you can expect to:
- Build strong relationships with key customer professionals, becoming their trusted advisor for our design and manufacturing processes.
- Act as the main liaison between customers and ConMet's internal teams.
- Identify and nurture new business opportunities aligned with our core products and processes
- Understand customer challenges and provide tailored solutions.
- Drive new opportunities through the quoting process and prepare customer proposals.
- Collaborate with Key Account Managers and Sales Directors on cost models, design studies, and financial justifications.
- Present concepts and proposals to customers with the Sales team.
- Lead cross-functional teams in developing and modifying products.
- Manage multiple customer projects, ensuring technical feasibility, project scope, and key milestones are met. You will set priorities, communicate with all relevant stakeholders to ensure cost, quality and technical requirements are achieved, and drive both internal and external teams through the product launch.
- Visit customer headquarters and manufacturing plants to strengthen relationships and offer design expertise and services.
What we need from you:
- Education: Bachelors of Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing preferred).
- Experience: 3-5 years in a relevant field, ideally automotive or commercial vehicles. Preferably in the areas of product design, applications, manufacturing, or program management. Technical sales or consulting background is a plus.
- Entrepreneurial Spirit: Detail-oriented, driven, and proactive in seeking new opportunities aligned with company goals.
- Business Acumen: Ability to understand and create financial models to accompany technical proposals. Identify customer needs, industry trends, and market dynamics to offer strategic solutions.
- Technical Knowledge: Foundry casting, machining, and finishing processes.
- Mindset: Results-driven, strong problem-solving skills, and able to work independently and in teams.
- Communication Skills: Translate complex technical concepts into compelling value propositions for engineers and executives.
- Proven Track Record: Successfully manage multiple development programs with high quality and profitability.
- Strategic Decision-Making: Identify opportunities, assess risks, and drive growth and profitability.
- Program Management: Oversee multiple projects, lead resources effectively, and ensure timely, budget-compliant results.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Able to utilize CAD software (NX, Creo, or CATIA) for 2D and 3D drawing/model reviews.
- Robust understanding of GD&T principles.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Products
- PLM software (preferably Team Center or Windchill) a plus
- Experience with SAP a plus
- Travel: Flexibility to travel as needed (10-20%).
- Language: Spanish skills are a plus.

Compensation & Benefits
- New hires generally start between $77,177 - $110,253. The full salary range for the position, across all geographies is $77,177 - $132,304 per year. The upper portion of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience.
- Targeted annual bonus is based on company performance to objectives during the fiscal plan year which runs from October 1 – September 30.
