Join our Seattle Retail Team as a Visual Merchandising Associate! We’re looking for a versatile individual who thrives on variety and has a strategic mindset to fill a unique role in our retail showroom, where you will play a pivotal part in shaping our customers' shopping experience.
As a Visual Merchandising Associate at Room & Board, your work inspires our customers and builds confidence in our design associates. You bring your talent to the showroom aesthetics in a manner that is consistent with Room & Board's design philosophy, connects with the lifestyles of our customers and is reflective of the unique Seattle, WA showroom environment. You will be responsible for all stages of visual, from planning to execution. Attention to detail and strong project management skills are essential, as you'll be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels and optimizing our visual presentations to enhance the customer experience. You’ll partner with the store leader to inspire and empower our Design Associates about all things Room & Board! Together, you’ll create an engaging environment that energizes the team, elevates their knowledge of our beautifully crafted products, and inspires the Seattle customer.
This role is highly physical in nature. You will spend a portion of your time working with the details of the showroom (e.g., adjusting layers within room settings, refreshing and replenishing our Home Decor department, introducing new assortments, etc.). The ability to shift focus throughout the day as the needs of the business demand is paramount to success within the role. Store hours:
Monday – Saturday: 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.Sunday: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Hours may shift occasionally throughout the year. To allow you to easily balance your other life priorities, we build out schedules for an entire month and release them a few weeks prior to the start of each month.

Additional position requirements and qualifications as a Visual Merchandising Associate:
- Visual/Merchandising experience. You bring 5+ years of related visual or merchandising experience, including knowledge in color theory. You have an eye for detail, not perfection.
- Design Savvy. You are passionate about design, know the trends and love the Room & Board brand. You understand color, texture, and mixing materials to develop spaces that are both functional and inspiring.
- Natural at building relationships. You enjoy working with people and being a strong partner, collaborating with your team and the broader company visual team.
- Effective communication skills. You bring professional, consistent and timely communication to ensure that you create the best experiences for our customers, retail team and home office.
- Strong planning and organizational skills. You have a game plan that is aligned to sales and the broader business, but are also agile as you balance routine responsibilities with customer and business needs. You bring an aptitude for good time management and process execution.
- Skilled in Technology. You are comfortable navigating technology and leveraging tools and resources to successfully accomplish the task at hand. Working knowledge of floor planning software (Floorplanner is preferred).
- Project Management. You will manage all aspects of assortment introductions, painting maintenance, lighting of the showroom and marketing but not limited to these.
- Ability to safely perform the work. The safety and wellbeing of our staff members is paramount. We recognize this role requires physical stamina and therefore require final candidates to complete a pre-employment physical.
