The Operations Manager oversees janitorial operations at an assigned site, maximizing resources to achieve customer satisfaction, productivity, schedule adherence, and economic goals. We are looking for a hands-on leader with a “boots on the ground” mentality—someone who is engaged with the day-to-day operations, motivates the team through action, and understands the challenges staff face. This role includes managing both day and night staff, with regular site visits to ensure operational efficiency and high staff performance.
Specific Duties / Essential Functions
- Oversees daily activities of assigned site to maximize scheduling and real-time utilization of resources; analyzes and recommends part-time, flexible, and full-time employee mix for the site.
- Monitor daily work hours to remain within budgetary guidelines.
- Be able to operate and teach subordinates how to safely operate and maintain all types of cleaning machinery and equipment.
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication with Managers, Supervisors and Employees.
- Conducts customer site inspections; submits customer change orders.
- Provide quotes and supply orders as needed.
- Responsible for job starts, and on/off offboarding.
- Submits employee change orders as needed in a timely manner.
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
- Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster aid promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness.
- Projects a favorable image of the company to promote its aims and objectives.
- Keeps Portfolio Leader promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action, which may be taken.
- Performs all necessary supervisory functions to effectively and efficiently manage the personnel assigned.
- Must provide all newly hired Supervisors and exempt staff with GPS goals within 30 days of hire.
- Must conduct GPS mid-year and year-end reviews within the required timeframe.
- Collaborate and partner with the Training & Development Team to identify development opportunities for your staff, and provide continuous feedback, mentoring, and coaching.
- Communicates areas of accountability and performance expected of personnel assigned.
- Determines standards of performance as a basis to review progress of personnel assigned.
- Recommends Transfers, promotions, and dismissals.
- Ensures proper training of personnel assigned.
- Develops individuals for future advancement.
- Step in for absent staff as needed, performing duties to maintain uninterrupted service.
- Manage both day and night shifts, conducting regular site visits to ensure consistent performance and operational efficiency across all teams.
- Oversee End of Shift Inspections (EOS) compliance across teams, ensuring guidelines are followed and discrepancies are addressed. Support Leads to ensure timely completion of inspections. Collect EOS data and report as directed to leadership for review and follow-up.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Working experience in janitorial or facilities management, with at least 5 years in a management role, preferred.
- Proven track record of managing a team and ensuring operational efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Must be able to work with Microsoft Office software applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Strong customer service orientation and the ability to build long-term relationships with clients.
- High integrity and a strong sense of urgency.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Proficiency in using cleaning equipment and teaching others its safe operation, preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond to emergencies promptly.
- Must always align with Pegasus DNA.

Technology Proficiency
Candidates in supervisory and leadership roles must be comfortable using computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and various technology systems, including reporting and ticketing systems. Leaders are expected to be able to enter data, submit thorough reports, and adapt to new systems as needed. Familiarity with current tools is essential, along with the ability to quickly learn new technologies to ensure smooth workflow and efficiency in business operations.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for leadership, performance management and hiring of the employees within its department.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. While performing some duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Schedule
Additional Information / Benefits

- Schedule varies based on operational needs. Must be flexible to work late evenings as required.
Annual Salary
- $80,000 - $100,000 Depending on Experience
