Mechanical Design Engineer

Hunter-Davisson, Inc. (HD) has been serving businesses in Oregon and SW Washington since 1965 and became 100% employee owned in 2020. Our Mechanical Design Engineers play an important role in our Company and are responsible for the MEP design for our HVAC-R installation projects and ensure they remain within budget, are completed on time and meet the expectations of our customers. Our Mechanical Design Engineer assures the scope of work they are designing is code compliant, accurate and designed to Hunter-Davisson, Inc. standards. Therefore, they must represent Hunter-Davisson, Inc. well by adhering to our high standards for excellent customer service, professionalism and consistently upholding our mission, vision and values.

This position works closely with Sales Staff, other Mechanical Design Engineers on staff and Project Managers to ensure superior communication of the design intent for new construction, tenant improvements and HVAC-R equipment replacement. In this position, we are seeking someone with an interest in growing, learning and developing their skills in a positive and engaging work environment.

Essential Job Functions:

Perform HVAC system design and engineering.
Generate accurate estimates and proposals according to intended scope of work.
Review project contracts as it relates to scope of work.
Coordinate scope of work with subcontractors.
Perform equipment selection. Request and review submittals.
Assemble packages of plans and submittals for permit and construction.
Submit plans for permits with a variety of jurisdictions.
Coordinate and obtain seismic details from structural engineer when required.
Obtain quotes when requested by sales.
Maintain currency with Hunter-Davisson standards, HVAC systems and building codes.
Maintain all applicable licenses and accreditations.
Maintain the electronic project files on the Q-drive and initial population of the J-drive.
Assist in developing standard construction details.
Attend design development meetings.
Provide field coordination and support as needed.
Perform site visits at various stages of a project.
Attend all company, office, and department meetings.
Proactively engage in all aspects of company safety program.

Minimum Requirements:

4 or more years of relevant experience in the Commercial HVAC industry.
4 or more years of relevant design and engineering.
MS Office proficiency.
AutoCAD & REVIT experience
Conduct self in accordance with HD’s Core Values.
