Transportation Planning/Analysis Engineer

This position will lead the planning and operations analysis tasks of various transportation planning projects that may involve multimodal corridor studies, long-range planning, travel demand modeling and forecasting, safety evaluations, intersection operations analysis and simulation, and data analytics. This position will apply technical analysis and tools to develop findings and recommendations to inform decision making. Ideal candidate will be proactive with a positive attitude and a willingness to take on new challenges and lead tasks.
What will you be doing?
- Leading technical tasks, reviewing technical work prepared by others, and conducting advanced analysis.
- Leading/conducting technical transportation analysis; including traffic operational analysis using Synchro, Vissim, and other traffic and modeling software to analyze the performance or impacts between various travel modes and vehicle types (cars, trucks, bus, light rail, pedestrians, bikes, e-scooters, etc.)
- Working with multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of complex corridor studies, transit operations, area plans, system plans, and other technical transportation projects.
- Mentoring less-experienced staff in their professional growth and enhancing their skills.
- Preparing and reviewing technical memoranda documenting traffic operational and transportation modeling analyses.
- Advancing technical processes, developing innovative solutions, and maintaining awareness of industry best practices.
- Presenting and communicating technical findings to clients, agency staff, and stakeholders
- Maintaining existing and helping develop new client relationships.
- Developing project schedule, budget, and scope.
- Managing small-medium sized projects, with growth opportunities into winning/delivering larger projects

What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s Degree (or greater) in Civil Engineering, Transportation, Urban Planning, or similar field, with an understanding of traffic flow theory and forecasting.
- 4+ years of experience in traffic operations and travel demand modeling, multi-modal analysis, safety studies, and experience with relevant tools and software (e.g., regional travel demand model packages, Synchro, Vissim, Vistro, HCS, Dynameq, etc.).
- Ability to work in a high-performing team, including strong communication skills and positive attitude
- Ability to program and/or implement custom scripts. Skills in R, Python, VBA, or Java are desired
- PE, or similar license, or the ability to achieve one in the near future
- Experience with project delivery and polishing work products to submit to clients
- Working knowledge of industry practices and regulations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

Pay Range:
Engineer: $105,500 - $126,500 per year
