Director of Operations (Planning & Materials, Seating)

Job Description

Responsible to provide Operations Planning and Materials Management leadership for IMMI’s Seating plants’ forecasting, capacity planning, master scheduling, alignment of production schedules to forecast and customer orders, releasing of orders to suppliers and sister plants, shortage management, receiving, warehouse, inventory levels, excess and obsolete inventory, inventory accuracy, and shipping processes. Scope to include customer/OEM, aftermarket and IMMI plant-to-plant interactions and interfaces.

Key Job Elements:

Learn, understand, teach, train and drive IMMI best practices in the functional disciplines noted above. Stay abreast of industry best practices and establish how IMMI should incorporate these to improve performance. Lead change and effectively motivate at all levels within the organization.
Lead the Operations interface with Sales on forecasting. Understand the customer-by-customer situation on an ongoing basis and determine how best represented, updated, maintained, and verified in the forecast to optimize execution.
Lead the ERP system* setup/functionality and execution in a manner within the plants and across the plants that allows the appropriate flexibility to adjust as needed in highly dynamic seating markets.
Manage IMMI owned returnable containers. Develop and oversee a common methodology to determine the correct number of containers for a given loop, a tracking and identification system, adjust container flow with demand changes, and identify when additional containers are required and proactively present for CAPEX approval.
Assure all product launches, engineering changes and transitions are ready to go to production, from an ERP system perspective and an actual material availability and flow perspective.
Provide support and expertise for specific projects/issues across departmental lines and/or corporate level project initiatives as requested.
Manage and supervise direct reports and dotted line reports in the IMMI matrix organization.
This position will be based out of IMMI’s High Point, NC plant. Relocation is required. Periodic travel to IMMI’s other seating plants and corporate headquarters will be as needed, approximately 15-20% travel.
*Note, the first 6-9 months will be heavily project focused with the planned deployment of our Oracle ERP business system into the High Point plant. This position will be critical to the success of the deployment.
