The position will be filled in our Colorado Springs or Denver offices. Salary Range: $110,000 to $125,000. Salary will be dependent upon experience.
Summary:The Senior Transportation Engineer/Project Manager will assist in managing transportation projects while leading the design of the associated roadway and traffic improvements. This role includes overseeing a team of engineers and other professionals to ensure the successful completion of projects, ensuring quality and compliance with all relevant standards and regulations. The Transportation Engineer will also play a role in the development of proposals for new transportation and municipal work.
Essential Functions:
- Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise and guidance in the development of roadway designs, including geometric design, pavement design, drainage systems, traffic engineering, and environmental considerations.
- Project Management: Lead roadway design projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Design and Drafting: Oversee and perform complex design and drafting of roadway and highway projects using software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other design tools.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure quality assurance and quality control processes are implemented and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
- Compliance: Ensure that all designs comply with relevant local, state, and federal regulations, standards, and codes.
- Coordination: Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and other team members, including surveyors, environmental scientists, and construction personnel, to ensure project requirements are met.
- Documentation: Prepare and review project documentation, including design calculations, project specifications, technical reports, and construction documents.
- Mentorship: Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and other team members, fostering professional development and growth.
- Client Interaction: Maintain strong relationships with clients, presenting project updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Site Visits: Conduct site visits and inspections as required to gather data, oversee construction progress, and ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices, and implement continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
Competencies:
- Ability to take and provide direction and work independently as well as effectively collaborate with teams
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external partners including clients, sub consultants, and utility companies
- Experience preparing final design plans, specifications and construction cost estimates
- Good problem solving and technical writing skills
- Proficiency with Civil 3D
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Attention to detail and ability to complete diverse assignments
Education and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 10 - 15 years of experience in transportation engineering, with a focus on civil engineering and roadway geometric design.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant tools. In-depth knowledge of roadway design principles, standards, and best practices.
- Licenses: Professional Engineer (PE) license required in Colorado (or ability to obtain).
- Valid driver's license, in conjunction with successfully passing the Company’s MVR
