Traffic Design Engineering Assistant
As a Traffic Design Engineering Assistant you will be working with our seasoned team of Engineers and Project Managers to develop plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for traffic engineering related improvements. Our projects enhance safety and efficiency for multi-modal transportation, including vehicles, bicycles & pedestrians, and transit (Light Rail and Bus Rapid Transit). Engineers at DKS keep up to date with current industry best practices and agency standards to develop creative solutions that balance the needs of all project stakeholders.

The goal of this position will be to gain experience in practical engineering design projects. As your career progresses at DKS, you will have the opportunity to develop skills in project management, become a technical expert, and/or focus on business development.

What will you be doing?

Gaining experience working on a variety of traffic engineering design projects under the guidance of expert team members
Developing Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) for roadway lighting, permanent signing and pavement markings, traffic signals, signal interconnect/fiber optic communications, and temporary traffic control plans
Performing roadway lighting analysis and traffic operations analysis
Going out in the field to verify condition of existing traffic systems (Signing, Lighting, Signals, etc) and observe traffic operations
Performing periodic inspections and providing engineering support during construction
Opportunity to experience projects in transportation technology and transportation planning
Working on significant projects across the west coast and in your own community

What are we looking for?

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation, or similar field
Recent experience or coursework in Transportation and Traffic Engineering
Ability to work in a team and independently
Attention to detail and ability to perform self-review of work
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Creative problem solver with the ability to exercise critical thinking
Interest in traffic engineering design
EIT Certification desired, but not required
Software experience desired, but not required: AGI lighting analysis software, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation

Pay Range:
Assistant: $34.56 - $40.24 per hour
