Harris Group is seeking an outstanding licensed architect to fill a role as an Architect in our Portland, Oregon office. The ideal candidate will enjoy design of industrial workspaces including small to large renovations varying from individual laboratories to facility expansions. Our portfolio focuses upon manufacturing environments for biotechnology, microelectronics, and aircraft sectors.
The Role
Our architects carry responsibility for the architectural elements of projects in collaboration together with our in-house engineers. You will plan, coordinate and administer project designs from the initial programming stages all the way through to completion of construction support services. We seek candidates that share our passion for design of industrial workplaces. Our work typically includes producing both renovation and greenfield designs of medium and heavy industrial projects, production laboratories, manufacturing facilities, and similar building types.
The Responsibilities
- Plan, support, and prepare work including proposals, narratives, presentations, specifications, sketches and drawings during all phases of various architectural assignments to consistently meet project scope budgets and deadlines.
- Collaborate effectively with coworkers, peers, and clients to cement mutually beneficial relationships and successfully complete quality project outcomes.
- Actively support the company's pursuit of new project opportunities.
- Coordinate closely with various engineering disciplines within the organization to collaborate, optimize, and improve work, staff sharing by participating in multi-discipline strategy sessions, and develop innovative and practical architectural solutions.
- Prepare and present project proposals, design concepts, and progress updates to clients and stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior architects and team members.
- Stay up to date with changes in building codes, regulations, and industry trends, to ensure project compliance.
- Encourage and collaborate with team for design integrity, accuracy, clarity and quality.
- Identify, interpret and apply relevant codes and standards to industrial-, laboratory-, office-, and hazardous- occupancies. Prepare code analysis deliverables.
- Conduct research and coordinate design with engineers and specialty consultants.
- Define program requirements and establish design parameters based upon client intentions.
- Plan and present proposals, design workshops, and deliverable reviews with stakeholders.
- Produce design and construction documents with thoughtful architectural solutions.
- Travel to off-site location and/or accept client site assignments when required.
- Inspect architectural features of structures in the field against construction documents.
The Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s. Architectural license and NCARB Certificate both in good standing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Apply architectural techniques commonly used in industrial capital projects.
- Work independently and collaboratively exhibiting good judgment with strong client focus.
- Experience interpreting IBC/IFC, NFPA, OSHA for client and AHJ presentation.
- Advanced knowledge of architecture.
- Ability to pass Client badging and screening processes.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Proficient with MSOffice, Revit, AutoCAD and manual sketches.
Benefits
- Salary Range: $80,000-$125,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
