Job Purpose Summary
Under the direction of the VP, Strategy and Business Development, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying growth opportunities for new ingredient innovations, building strategic relationships, and driving value for our clients. Working closely with the Sales team, Technical team and external business partners, this position will provide tailored solutions that enhance our clients' product offerings and strengthen our market position.
Responsibilities
Market Development & Opportunity Identification
- Identify and evaluate new business opportunities for our evolving ingredient portfolio by analyzing market trends, consumer demands, and competitive landscapes.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to translate market insights into actionable growth strategies.
Account Collaboration & Strategic Sales Support
- Partner with existing Sales team members to present tailored ingredient solutions to current and potential customers.
- Provide guidance and support in developing account-specific strategies to enhance client relationships and maximize sales potential.
- Engage in joint customer visits with the Sales team to better understand client needs and create compelling presentations that showcase our ingredients’ value.
- Manage portfolio of customers in newly developed channels and segments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Technical team to understand ingredient functionalities and leverage their expertise in client presentations and solution development.
- Ensure smooth communication and alignment between Sales, Marketing, and Technical teams for seamless project execution.
- Support internal training presentations on the introduction of new ingredients and relationships into the CIRANDA portfolio.
Relationship Building & Networking
- Support the development of strong relationships with key decision-makers within client organizations to drive business growth and ensure long-term partnerships.
- Represent CIRANDA at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to enhance brand visibility and identify potential partnerships.
Market Analysis & Reporting
- Assist in monitoring market trends and competitor activities, providing insights and recommendations to inform strategic business decisions.
- Regularly report on business development progress, pipeline status, and market insights to the leadership team.
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Food Science, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or account management within the food ingredient or food manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of food ingredient functionality, applications, and market trends.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain and Technical teams.
- Proficiency in CRM software, marketing automation, Innova or Mintel, Microsoft Office Suite.
